Once again, I AGREE with you that he’s been overhyped and that his resume is weak. But it would obviously have been much stronger, had the better fighters of his weight class have been WILLING to have fought him back then.

Canelo got his opportunity for maximum exposure by fighting Mosley and then Floyd.

GG was not able to have fights of that magnitude.

You can rant all you want. At the end of the day, it is an ACTUAL FACT that Canelo and Cotto would NOT fight him.

Those guys are the REASON why he still had a weak resume back then.

Again, Cotto had 3 consecutive C-W fights before returning to JMW, and Canelo gave up his belt before fighting a JMW and then Chavez at a C-W, which was a weight ABOVE MW.

Those are the FACTS.

IF GG could have fought the likes of: Cotto, Canelo, Sturm, Martinez and BJS, then his resume would obviously have been significantly stronger than what it was before he fought the likes of Brook.

 

He initially signed a contract to fight Chris Eubank Jr as a tick over fight, as Oscar had said that they wanted to fight Khan before they negotiated to fight GG.

We know now that it was Snr who issued a whole list of unreasonable demands which scuppered the fight for Jr.

The date, venue, training camps and the purses had all been set.

Brook was offered as a last minute replacement before they pulled the plug.

So GG fought a WW as a replacement.

I’m sure that you already know this.

You are criticising GG for having taken the Brook fight.

Yet the only reason that he went for Eubank and then accepted Brook as a last minute replacement, is because Canelo wasn’t ready to fight him at that point.

Do you understand?

If Oscar hadn’t have wanted Khan as a tune up for Canelo, then we would have seen a Canelo-GG fight, INSTEAD of seeing Canelo-Khan and GG-Brook.

Why on earth is the guy who was forced to find a replacement getting criticised here??
