If you pay close attention you'll notice Eubank's rock-like noggin crashing into Joe's face with force many times but Joe just walked through it and instinctively fired right back with shots of his own because he was fiercely competitive and that indomitable spirit was always part of his DNA. You hit him he'd immediately hit you right back and unlike many others he never feared a tear up and going toe to toe with big punchers and he fought a lot of punchers throughout his reign.

Quite a fair few of these shots that bounced off his chin aren't merely KD shots they're KO shots given how hard and flush they landed and when you're getting caught flush repeatedly with bombs like that and taking them, especially in quick succession or consistently over the duration of the fight, that really is a true chin test.

Robin Reid: He hurt me the most with a single shot. I can’t say George Groves because he caught me square on in the first fight, when I left my feet behind me. That was a heavy knockdown made worse by my balance being off. Also, after his fast start dwindled, I came on strong, so I can’t say Groves. I remember Reid hitting me and saying, ‘beeping hell, that hurt.’ Jermain Taylor had me down, but that was more of a sharp shot. Robin Reid could really bang, and in my opinion he deserved the win over Joe Calzaghe in their fight. That said, Calzaghe had to be tough to walk through the right hands he took from Reid.

Calzaghe: He was a tough geezer. I wasn’t a devastating puncher; I was more of a worker, and that showed against Calzaghe. I hit him many times but nothing affected him

Joe was also awkward and effective. And he could take a punch. I would say I hit Joe with some of my hardest shots ever and he took them. Carl is more a hard hitter but he’s slow. But Carl doesn’t respect anything. Even if you hit him really hard he will still come forward.

Helluva beard.. Reid's **** could power a nuclear reactor .. guy was juiced to high heaven.. threw the kitchen sink at Joe in those mid rounds but couldn't budge him.. Calzaghe fked his hand in that one after schooling Reid early, & had to adapt with it through the fight which is why you see him struggling mid rounds.. but as always he adjusted & found a way & worked Reid in the championship rounds..

Froch is so FOS.. Reid won 4 rounds.. & Carls room to talk, he had numerous closer fights than that one.. always bitter cos no one picks him over Calzaghe h2h, & rightly so
