Greater Fighter: Calzaghe or GGG?

I was never a huge fan of his, but I think that he was genuinely avoided by some guys in his weight class.

Cotto, Martinez and Sturm wouldn’t fight him.

Oscar delayed the Canelo fight for as long as possible.

The best prime fighter who Joe fought was obviously Kessler.

Kessler was a better fighter than Lacy.

Joe vs GGG at 168 would have been a great, competitive fight.

Aslong as GGG doesn't bust up Joe's eye socket, I think Joe would edge him

He was happy to parade around as the MW champ after beating Martinez.

He had no intentions of fighting GG.

Many other guys have done it across all weight classes. It’s not a new thing. But the point is, not everybody was prepared to face him like how Brook was.

It wouldn’t have been good. But I don’t think that Martinez wanted him even before he had injuries.

GG was definitely avoided by some guys in his division.

 

He lost clearly and fairly, get over it nuthead.

 

Cotto was already accomplished and was looking for a payday he rightfully deserved. A fighter that took on the likes of Torres, Mosley, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Concreto x2, Martinez, Alvarez, Clottey, Quintana and many more sure as hell isn't scared of a farce who's biggest win at the time was Rubio. You have to be seriously deluded to even go there, honestly.

Martinez was also looking for a payday he rightfully deserved, which is why he took on Cotto. A fighter who took on the likes of Williams x2, Pavlik, oversized undefeated Chavez Jr., Cintron...etc sure as hell won't be "scared" of Golovkin.

Ancient Sturm?, yeah that sounds more like someone Golovkin is seriously interested in.

De La Hoya delayed what?, wasn't Alvarez a Light Middleweight that the farce was shamelessly begging for a payday from?. Do you want us to ignore that reality?. If it was the other way around, you will be mentioning it day and night.

 

Jacobs has trouble with slickness, good boxers, and big power punchers, they make him timid. Kessler was straight up and down, very basic in my opinion, also very hittable. Between the two of them, Jacobs is actually the more athletic guy.

I’m no GG fanboy. I think that he’s overrated by many people, especially by guys on this forum. And his resume isn’t great. But it seems to me that you have a very clear dislike of him. So much so, that’s it’s affected your judgement.

I don’t care nor do I need reminding of who Cotto fought. Miguel Cotto had absolutely no intention whatsoever of ever remaining in the division to fight GG.

Regarding Oscar, Are you serious??

GG stepped aside to let the Canelo-Cotto fight happen

Canelo then beat Cotto

Canelo then became the WBC, MW champ

Canelo also became GG’s mandatory

Oscar then asked for a warm up fight with Khan before they sat down to make the fight

Canelo then knocked out Khan

GG was then invited into the ring afterwards, and Oscar told GG’s manager, Tom Leoffler to remain by the phone as he was going to call the following week in order to try and make the fight

Canelo then relinquished his belt to fight Liam Smith back at 154 instead

He then fought Chavez at a 164 C-W

By the time he eventually fought GG, it was nearly 2 years since he’d beaten Cotto for the title and become GG’s mandatory


Both Oscar and Canelo were highly disrespected for their actions.

Canelo’s reputation took a big hit.

That is the reality.
