Greater fighter Floyd Mayweather jr or Bernard Hopkins

Hopkins by leaps and bounds. On top of which Hopkins would Immolate Mayweather Jr. H2H.

 

I would lean ever so slightly to Mayweather

Ignoring the fact that his is an *******, his resume stands comparison to that of Hopkins (IMO). Throw in the fact that he has often fought bigger guys as well.

Tons of respect for both these guys whom are among the smartest fighters to ever step in the ring....Hopkins however gets the distinction of being a true legend killer. If Hopkins throws 100 more punches in his two fights with Taylor and perhaps his fight with Joe C., he's a top 15 ATG bar none.

If Floyd comes back and wins 3 or 4 big fights, I'd put him ahead.

Totally agree. Mayweather only began tarnished his career with his brash talkin in the welterweight division and ignoring margarito. But he did beat a good da la hoya it wasn't a shot da la hoya. In fact the only bad notch on his resume is his win against shamba mitchell. he was past it I think when mayweather fought him and mayweather used it as a sparrin session.

Also Hopkins win against tarver was great but. But i think Hopkins fought him at the right time. Tarver just finished the ROcky film and had to shed alot of weight (similar to the jones senario).

Also when he beat Pavlik. Hopkins was already settled at Light Heavy. Pavlik was in new territory. I mean dont get me wrong i think the result would of been the same at super middle or middle :hey.

But I just feel Mayweather resume is better

Mayweather would outbox Hopkins in a H2H match-up if both were the same weight.

I think Floyd has the edge in greatness also... its impossible to overlook FMJ winning titles in 5 weight classes (all WBC) & the fact that he never faced a style that he couldnt best in his entire career (I havent seen the 1st Castillo fight but he was never troubled in the return.)

Mayweather >> Hopkins IMO.

mayweather . more natural talent which seems to get overlooked on here. in favour of that snivelling little word " resume ", there i said it.

both are brilliant boxers. mayweather has the better skills but hopkins has the better boxing brain. Hopkins has losses because he took risks. Mayweather on the other hand avoided fights, however i still respect his boxing ability. Only if he had the same faith in his boxing as i do, he would be one of the best boxers ever. I know for a fact he would beat cotto and margarito but it won't be easy. And that's the problem with him, he doesn't want to risk his '0'. He wants easy fights, where he foresees nothing but a guaranteed victory. The only fights i give him credit for taking on is corrales and castillo. The rest were guaranteed wins.

But on the other hand, i understand that he can't fight everybody and there always going to be someone that his critics want him to fight against and im not one of them, however fight(s) between mayweather vs either margo, cotto or paul williams is a MUST if he want to be recognized as one of the best fighters ever. Mainly becasue he's been avoiding them for a long time. We all know he has the ability to beat them, it's just a matter of taking the risk. He retired because the only fights remaining for him were the fighters that iv just listed.
