Greater Fighter: Floyd Mayweather or Juan Manuel Marquez?

No way Marquez can beat Pacquiao now. No way. Pacquiao is not going to down in weight and Marquez does not transfer upwards well. As an athlete, his style, it just doesn't work for him the way it does for Pac. He's not explosive and as soon as he loses sharpness that timing he needs is going to be off.

 

before the Mosley fight everyone for screaming for that fight saying he would never fight him.

 

To be fair he kind of waited until Mosley was getting on towards 40 years old.

Marquez struggled to beat an over the hill Diaz and also the Chris John loss counts big time against Marquez. If he was to be rated anywhere near Mayweather, he should not be losing fights like that.

With Marquez he always seems to be in a war and never IMO convincingly beats an opponent and fighters like Mayweather are his worst nightmare.

 

to be fair he tried to make a fight with Mosley a few years before.....same with Cotto, De La Hoya, Casamayor. Pacquiao is the only fighter you can say he didn't try and make a fight with.

Floyd was backed into a corner on that one. Shane called him out in the ring whilst he had just beaten someone who was much smaller.

Thats not Mayweathers problem. If he couldn't make the weight he shouldn't have taken the fight. Being weight drained is not an excuse.

Mayweather wanted to fight Mosley a long time ago and Mosley turned it down.

 

I don't think his achievements match his level of skill. Beating Pac would sort that out though.

The only hope I have is that Mayweather has always talked like a man driven by money first and the best challenge a distant second. Pacquiao is such huge money it will be tempting him. But clearly he's not actually desperate to face Pacquiao as a fighter, whereas you get the impression Pacquiao is not arsed about fighting anyone.
