I freaked when I saw it. It's definitely a keeper.:good

I made note of his lack of signature wins when comparing him to Morales and Barrera, two fighters who he is routinely rated above these days. As for Floyd, he isn't really in possession of a top shelf victory either, but he's spanned more weight divisions, is clearly a more complete fighter, and has a comparable resume with Marquez. When the resumes are fairly close, you look at other criteria to distinguish who is the greater fighter, in my opinion.

Goes without saying, but what posters shouldn't be saying is stuff like this...

Not..."he beat Pacquiao both times in my opinion", simply, "he beat Pac twice", as if it was a irrefutable fact. He then goes on to imply a robbery ensued by saying, "poor officiating". Those decisions could have conceivably been scored for either fighter on both occasions and therefore aren't robberies by definition. It's one thing to have an opinion, but to call these fights robberies just isn't true. That's not what happened.

Floyd is a special talent, he just hasn't done himself any justice with his career choices.

For me, I agree that Floyd appears 'special'. I'd like for his ability to be proven against genuinely 'Elite' opposition in their prime.

Now there is only one guy that fits the bill. If he doesn't fight him he will always be a missed opportunity IMO.

But that's another thread entirely :good

I don't have work today, and I've been busting my ass trying to recover all of my music. I had to erase my hard drive and reinstall my operating system so I lost absolutely everything. Didn't see any rush to go asleep when I didn't have anything to do all day...I'll get some shuteye in a bit.

    You going DeGale/Groves?

Would've been but I'm still living on the island of Skintos  Going to Amsterdam in April, doubt I'll have any funds left after that. Shame, woulda been a good night too.

I'm at work......my PC is dead, the only music I currently have is what was on my 8GB Iphone the 'day the PC died' :rofl

    Hard times bro':D

EDIT: Added to my reply to you on Marquez>>>>Barrera/Morales and Floyd over those two as well. Barrera ranks highest for me, as I've stated earlier I'm finding it increasingly hard to seperate Morales/Marquez.

You might have a point there. These days watching someones career or any particular fight is easy to do, also interviews, pundits and most importantly the general publics views are all readily available. Fighters of the past however its an entirely different story. Footage was not as widely available. For all we know there could have been many flaws in some of the greatest fighters of years gone by or even opponent choice due to circumstances that we may never know because the fans never had a platform like the internet to discuss and record this stuff. Theres only so much we can get from old grainy video footage and as for what we read in books we are always gonna get the opinion of the respective author (hell, just look at the bias involved with some of todays writers)

I'd be willing to bet my bottom dollar that all the top guys from yesteryear would struggle to live up to the reputation we have created for them in our heads. Never meet your heroes and all that.....

Erik Morales' resume is so much better than JMM's, though. Manny Pacquiao? Marco Antonio Barrera? Prime versions. It's an astonishing set of wins.

It's a shame you're not going to DeGale/Groves mate, would have been cool to meet up or something.

Did Mayweather not prove himself in the first Jose Luis Castillo fight? :think

The De La Hoya fight also was a tough fight for Mayweather IMO.

I'd say that's one of the last fights that should be brought up when trying to demonstrate Floyds ability IMO. Castillo 1,

Judah and Mosley are the best for showcasing Floyd coming through adversity to 'prevail' (I did score the Castillo fight to him personally although I can see why others don't) and whilst Judah is not on Oscars level, he was a more dangerous proposition for Floyd than De La Hoya was IMO. I was pretty high on Floyd until then and felt that whilst Oscar had blown Mayorga put of the water Pretty Boy was a different kettle of fish. I felt Oscar couldn't recapture what he had prior to his Middleweight attempts.

But it's a lacklustre victory from Floyds perspective IMO.

IMO I really think he came through some real tough spells in the De La Hoya fight, maybe Oscar gassing at the end helped a little but it certainly wasn't plain sailing for Floyd.

Exactly. With someone with as reputed a skillset as Floyd has, he should've looked much better in the 2nd half of the fight with what he had in front of him IMO.

I never said it was one of Floyd's best performances, I made the point that it was a tough fight which he came through.
