Single wins for Bowe are better, and he has a World Championship to his resume as well.

People I know who have seen Tyson up close swear he looks more like 5'9" than 5'11".

You can take any fighter from a span of a few fights and make him look like a superstar. You have to look at their entire career, and see exactly how good they were. The problem with only basing it on a few fights, is because he only faced a few fighters during that time, who he matched up great against. When you fight a more diverse group of Top 10 opponents, then people can really begin to see how great you are.... or aren't.

On the subject of height again....look at VITLAY next to Lewis and there seems to be hardly any difference between the two. Then look right at the end of the clip and WALDO and VITLAY are next to each other and they look to be pretty much exactly the same height. Are they both 6'5 :think

Of course that all depends on how good the top 10 are when you're in the division, too. Of course longevity counts for a lot in boxing but I'd put far more stock in Tyson 86-90 than I would in Calslappy 1997-2008 for example.

    Class is now in session!

Wlad has achieved more, is better and should without a shadow of any doubt be ranked higher than him.

First of all, all Bowe did was beat Holyfield twice, who I find extremely overrated. Bowe and Holyfield are the two most overrated Heavies in history, and they have themselves to thank for that.

Wlad has shown heart, courage, dedication, skill, strength and many more intangibles throughout his career. Bowe showed nothing. the fat ****ing ***** threw the Heavyweight belt in the garbage!!!!!! **** Riddick Bowe.

That seems to be the norm for people that have met the guy....prime Tyson was an absolute freak but like Bowe he ****ed it all up for himself. I find it easier to sympathise with Tyson than Bowe though.

    Really?? ****, I'd never have guessed :D

I can't stand the guy either to be honest....but for a short time he was a great fighter. Bowe and WALD are very close right now in achievements in my opinion - if and when WALD wins another belt he instantly moves above Bowe on the ATG heavy list.

Bowe had great skills and potential. His fights with Holyfield are legendary and some of the best. He just ****ed it all up. He was addicted to food, seriously, and just couldn't discipline himself. Shameful. Like you said him and Tyson both....sad sad sad they couldn't live up to what they could have been. :good

Yeah it was sad for both of them that they came apart at such a young age but hey boxing is all about discipline, as Lewis found out to his cost against Rahman in that first fight - you fail to prepare and all that...

Bowe probably should be a top 10 ATG heavy right now but his problem with his feet (he was unable to keep them out of the pantry) means that he's top 30 at best and the guy he beat twice is way above him. Tyson is probably lower half of the top 10 which just shows how good he really was, when most people consider he pissed away his career and he's STILL rated that highly.

I see a pretty clear height difference. Vitali isn't even standing fully upright, and Lewis appears to be.

By all standards, Riddick Bowe's resume is very very good. He was never KO'd in 44 pro fights, and only lost to another all time great whom he beat twice. He had additional good wins over top contenders or prospects like Coetzer, Seldon, Hide, Donald, and Gonazalez. I know he looked terrible against Andrew Golata, but Bowe was clearly slipping while Golata was fighting about as dirty as I've ever seen anyone fight, and Bowe showed great heart in taking that pounding. Anyone who is hit below the belt as much as Bowe was in those two fights, deserves the benefit of good officiating.

Wlad has a very good resume as well, but he was Ko'd three times by fighters who either barely qualified as world class, or weren't at all. While he may have defeated more ranked fighters than Bowe did, he never had a victory that was even close in quality to Evander Holyfield. Riddick Bowe for a brief period in 1992, established himself as the best fighter of a rather strong era just 4 years into his career, of course people had doubts when he dumped the WBC title and avoided Lewis, but still. Wlad on the otherhand, is something like in his 12th year as a pro, and I'm still not sure that he's decisively the best, but rather the best among peers if you will.
