Bowe was a very complete fighter in his prime, even if it only lasted a couple years, ask Holyfield who is hardest oppenent was, he will tell you Bowe, not Lewis or Tyson. Bowe was the only 6'5 guy out there that could fight from the inside, almost as well as he could from the outside, solid chin, tough, big heart/balls(Golota fight), good power, and good hand speed for a big man.

I'm just surprised some people think Wlad would beat a prime Bowe, though I do think a prime Vitali would give him one hell of a fight, that would be a 55/45 in favor of Bowe, but I would not put any money down on that one.

You're living in the past. If you think that stacks up with Ibragimov, Austin and Brock you just have to realsie how much sports science has come on wlad is 6'6" when are you haterz gonna realize that

I have Evander ranked 7th among the ATG heavyweights. Could see him ranked as high as 5th or 6th, but I could also see him being ranked lower than 7th.

Klitschko has fought the best available-ducked no one-and KO's at the 2nd highest rate in history not his fault if his opponents are lesser quality.

Golota had Bowe reeling with every big punch he landed. Vlad hits quite a bit harder than Golota did.

I'm not denying that Bowe takes a great shot, but I don't think he'd be able to withstand Vlad's best punches.

Overall, I still pick Bowe to win, because of his size, athleticism, superior durability, competency as a stand-up boxer and -- as you point out -- the fact that Vlad couldn't withstand Bowe on the inside. Still, however, I give Vlad a much better chance of winning than you do.

He's also been knocked out by 2 journymen and a club fighter, that has to count for something.:yep

yes. he could fight inside and out. but i dont think he was complete. he had no defense and was very slow on his feet. golota completely exposed those 2 flaws. u can argue he wasnt at his best but both lennox and today's wlad were/are superior to Golota.

it should and does. it proves he has a less than stellar chin. but since all of those loses, he has evolved into a much more well-rounded fighter. less dynamic offensively for sure but far better defensively and much more difficult to beat.

Fair enough, but how many 6'5 240 pound fighters that would be considered good on there feet? Dont say Wlad either, his balance is terrible, he seems to fall without even being punched sometimes. I do agree Golota was not as talented as Lewis or even Wlad, but the 96 version of Bowe was not his prime, 92-93 was.

I agree, Wlad is more defensive minded now, but he still had his fair share of knockdowns, even with Manny's assistance, 5 to be exact, Williamson, Brewster, and 3 times against Peter. It just takes a certain type of fighter to bring that glass chin to the right light, Haye might be able to do that, though he doesnt have the best set of whiskers himself.

The question of how Bowe would stand up to Vlad's thunderous punches -- especially the right hand -- is intriguing. My hunch is that Vlad could seriously hurt Bowe, and knock him out, if he gets his punches off first.

Bowe had a career long history of having trouble with big, strong punchers. If I remember correctly, Bowe was knocked down twice in the Olympics by Alexander Miroshnichenko. That tells us something.

He had good defense...not great...not at all. But his shell defense and head and upper body movement at HW was anything but bad. He was slow footed, I agree, but also had excellent footwork.

Vs Golota....that had nothing to do with his skillset at all...but more that he was FAAAR out of shape at that point and even further out of his mind.

    :nut <----Riddick Bowe

If we are talking about a prime, motivated Bowe (which was shortlived...unfortunately...which is why he is one of the worst wastes of talent in the history of the sport), we are NOT talking about the 252 pound (17 pounds heavier...and Im sure an insane amount of body fat...fatter??? then he was vs Evander the last time) flabby shell he was vs Golota the first time.

And did I mention that by that time he was ****in insane???

And Miguel Cotto was SOUNDLY beaten in the olympics by Mohamed Abdulaev...so that tells you how much weight I put into that....
