Greater fighter - Klitschko or Bowe?

I agree completely. The more Manny uses his position to talk Peter up, the more demand for the rematch... and the bigger the payday.

 

I keep seeing references to Wlad having a "weak pysche" and that he "lacked heart."

Gotta call B.S. on that one. Wlad has gotten up every single time he was knocked down in his career. Wlad was never counted out in a fight. Even when hurt, he kept trying.

He was rocked and hurt by Peter and got back up and even dominated Peter down the stretch.

He's had the best resume of any current top heavyweight.

5 of his last 6 wins were over Ring magazine top ten contenders.

He readjusted his style and continued his career after most of the boxing community wrote him off. 4 years ago, if someone said that Wlad would become the world's top heavyweight, they would have been called crazy.

Fact is, he has persevered. He beat several good fighters, survived knockdowns, humiliating losses, and has escaped his brother's shadow.

Wlad Klitschko has heart. For that matter so did Bowe. That doesn't mean that Wlad was somehow deficient in the guts category.

Had to get that off my chest.

Other than Holyfield and Hide there wasn't much else on Bowe's resume. On the other side - Klitschkos resume isn't worth much either with 2 wins over Byrd and his win vs halfgreen Peter being the best.

Klitschko have some embarressing defeats on his sheets, but has shown he could come back from crushing defeats, something that Bowe never did.

I am edging out Klitschko because I rate him as a better boxer overall - and his will to come back after crushing defeats - which is not an easy thing to do. Needless to had that he has accomblished more.

Wlad has unified two world titles now, and he has more wins, more successful title defenses and more KOs than Bowe. He's defeated several top opponents like prime Byrd and Peter.

Bowe really has only one big win, and he was twice beaten up badly by Golota, who is really on the same level as several opponents Wlad has defeated such as McCline.

 

I believe that Bowe is vastly over rated.

On a consistent basis.

Probably Bowe but he was a coward for failing to face Lennox. I could not see Wlad doing that.

 

Why pick Bowe? He only looked good when he fought a less than 100% Lewis @ the Olympics then lost to Gollota twice :-( Bowe is one giant fraud.

 

I see my exclusion of Holyfield in my top 20 has caused some furor.
To be fair I will post my top 20 HW list. Also I want to add that I consider Evander the GOAT at CW but I don't feel his HW record is ATG level.
His wins over Foreman and Holmes were both against the ancient versions.
Moorer and Cooper were solid wins but nothing to get excited about.
he was 1-1-1 with Ruiz, and I felt lost all 3 to Bowe, and both to Lennox.
The Rahman victory was the result of illegal headbutting. The victory against a faded Tyson is all he has IMO, the second fight was a farce, Tyson was insane by that point. And that is it at HW. He lost to Toney, Byrd, and Donald when he was well past it and should have retired after the Lewis loss.

Ibragimov, Peter and Brewster would have been top contenders back in Bowe's day. I'm sure of that.

The difference in Bowe's time was that the division had three dominant fighters -- Bowe, Lewis and Holyfield -- who were in a class of their own and who could put on superfights. Today we just have Vlad and nobody else.
