Floyd to me, maybe not to you fought like a proper pro… was he Toney, Duran and JCC’s level of skill? Not to me, I think he’s closer to Starling with the right mindset - his hands limited him but he found a way to be the face of the sport for a long time and fight around age, hands and size - Hagler is more overrated then Floyd is underrated here if that makes sense and it’s only IMO.

Floyd would have been the Fifth King. Since apparently Benitez can't get respect.

It’s because he didn’t fight Hagler… Benitez was the weakest link but not by much, people love WB.

Not comparable really, Floyd never fought a 15 round fight and he hand picked basically all of his opponents waited until the aged out etc. Not always the biggest Hagler fan but he was better overall and way more fun to watch.

Floyd would've had no problem fighting 15 rounds - he was one of the better conditioned fighters of all time.

I like Hagler but this is disingenuous - Floyd was already great by the time he finished his PBF run. The complete dismantling of Corrales was an all time performance and whilst Hagler was more decisive in his defences, Floyd exceeds Hagler in many aspects of skillset, especially defence, footwork and ring generalship.

There are those that would say Hagler feasted on traditionally smaller fighters and didn't have the mentality to step up and test the LHWs to cement his p4p ATG credentials. I wouldn't say it but you could equally point cherry picking/stayed where he was comfy and didn't take on the best fighter available accusations at Marv.

I much prefer Marv's mentality over Money Mayweather but I will say this - had Floyd been fighting a Ray Leonard equivalent in Marvin's position, or a Duran, he wouldn't have been so passive.

Floyd ducked his real nemesis type fighters - the ones who would have beaten him or shortened his career. Hagler, apart from Mike McCallum, fought the best in a strong era. The SRL loss was complete BS, like the OJ criminal trial, Hagler won that fight.

Floyd made his bed fighting Conor McGregor, Robert the ghost, just look at Floyd's career and ask why he didn't fight through likes of prime Tszyu, Paul Williams, Margarito, Cotto and Hatton at 140 etc. He forced JMM up two weight classes to fight him at a 145 catchweight, only to come inboverweight and pay the penalties insteadof fighting on an even keel. He knew JMM was going to figure out his soft underbelly and get to him. JLC first fight, come on, what a gift to Floyd. Then there's the Manny fight - very dubious IMO and if fought earlier a certain win for Manny.

Hagler. I'm not sure that those who didn't live through this era realize how much greater these fighters were - and they actually fought one another when it mattered too!!!

These results actually make me not want to contribute to this ridiculous site. Hagler was a significantly better fighter than Mayweather. He was just as good of a boxer, and a much better "fighter." Maybe it is time for me to stop arguing with people who know so little about boxing.

Amen. Honestly, I can't see how you could rate Mayweather as greater. Like I said, I think there's a lot of kiddies on this site who just don't know how great the "Four Kings" were and overrate safety first fighters like Mayweather

Mayweather didn’t start as a safety first fighter he actually had two careers. On as pretty boy and then came the businessman.
