Very similar with different attributes. Taylor was probably more physically gifted.

Nah, he gave himself a short window to work in.

Taylor's performances vs Chavez and McGirt impressed me more than anything Nunn ever did, yet I still feel that Nunn had the greater ability overall. Good thread, tricky one.

So in essence you agree with me? Or am I missing something?

Well it seemed to me that you were implying there were forces out of his control that left a small window for him to work in. I.e he had constraints in which to do his best work.

I was just making sure you weren't saying that. Obviously you weren't and know what an ass he acted outside the ring in his prime (or enjoyed himself, whatever way you wanna' look at it) and that's what shortened his career.

I wouldn't say he was infallible anyway. Very talented though, a big Middle and fast.

Nah I was just saying even if he survived toney's late fight back, he'd have lost soon enough with the talent out there.

People can't survive a division that stacked with his mentality.

Nunn vs Jones would've been interesting

Kalambay's display of boxing against prime McCallum was elite stuff.

To destroy a fighter like Kalambay was extremely impressive.

The only fighter as good or better than McGirt (at the time he fought them) that Nunn beat was Kalambay, and that fight could be replayed a thousand times and it wouldn't end like that.

You're overrating Nunn if you think he'd beat the **** out of a Buddy McGirt level fighter. He NEVER put a beat down on a fighter on McGirt's level.

Note: beat down refers to more than one punch landing. :good

IMO, Nunn would have his hands full with the likes of Reggie Johnson.

Nunn had some good skills, but his defense was always, even at his peak, average. Let's not engage in the fantasy that he was some god before he stopped taking the sport seriously.

Nunn if he could have fought from 1988-1990 was awesome. But his motivation and concentration were not top notch, and Taylor not having the defensive skills of Michael Nunn in his prime, made up for it in heart. I give the edge to Taylor all around .

Taylor was the more naturally talented fighter, but Nunn was better overall imo. That said, Taylor was a fighter and a warrior, much more so than Nunn imo.

    Nunn.

    But, both are underrated now.
