you are stretching the term elite. Chavez was elite but Castillo was not and Casamayor was not. I agree with what that guy said about Corrales being a 50/50 fighter. I agree. He won half the time against the very good fighters and then lost easily to the one elite he fought Mayweather.

I'm positive he fought Camacho for the light welterweight title.

And what happened to Cuevas when he stepped up against the elite guys in his division? Squashed.

Most guys lost to Hearns in those years. But Hearns was a real elite. Corrales only fought one Hearns level fighter and lost to him easily, yet Cuevas does have a long title reign. No one wanted to fight him. He was that powerful.

Cuevas lost to a very green Price and even Stafford a year later after getting squashed by Hearns.

Pipino was far greener than Price.

How so? He'd lost enough at that point, figure he'd have learned a thing or two from those 5 or 6 losses.

Price was older, had far more amateur experience, had more pro experience in terms of quality of opposition and slightly more in quantity if you want to be picky.

If anything Price was around his prime despite the rough patch that followed...He just fell a bit short of expectation.
