Now that Floyd has retired, how does his career match up to fellow great, Roy Jones Jr.? I'm not talking about who was more skilled, who had the better wins, etc., simply overall who was the greater fighter?
jones really, he beat some prime hofers and conceded potentially 70 lbs in prime bodyweight moving up. Floyd not come close, however Floyd had very different strengths, money was awesome defensively, roy awesome offensively, jones killed his longevity, Floyd made best use of his.
oK...it's a tough call...my all time list has fmj first, rjj second and srr third....but i have seen rjj fights where he looked like far and away the greatest fighter of all time...the difference is, rjj usually fought at a more natural weight class, whereby floyd usually fought above his natural weight class against guys who were up to 30 lbs heavier than him and beat them with the same ease...gotta go with fmj.
RJJ was when he was in his prime he could damn near land at will he was a God with boxing gloves.:deal Arguably the best athlete to ever lace up a pair of boxing gloves along with Ali
You have to think most people would rather be a Floyd opponent than a RJJ opponent. Floyd beats you economically, but Roy would terrorize you with unrelenting speed and punches that you don't know where they are coming from.
