It wasn't his biggest fight. Braddock was a place holder.

Liston battered guys who would have been light heavyweights/Cruiserweights in this day and age, Wladimir and Vitali are greater and better H2H wise.

Everyone else's opinions to. There are articles written on Louis's biggest fights. Braddock isn't number one.

I voted for Wlad believing it was Wlad. Why would poster put Vitali down as Wlad. Anyway if it’s Vitali I pick Liston

What did Joe Louis consider his biggest fight?

What definitively makes Williams fight against Tyson bigger than the one against Holmes?
What definitively makes Golota's fight against Lewis bigger than those against Bowe and Tyson?

Probably the paychecks. Tyson wasn’t a champion for Golota either.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it wasn’t one of the huge fights that he ended up losing.

Please show me an article where Ali-Liston II is listed as Liston's biggest fight.

What huge fight did he end up losing that could possibly be considered his most important fight? The Schmeling and Marciano losses were non-title affairs. His loss to Ezzard Charles, was when he was in his late 30s, rusty, just having embarked on a return after two years of no action, and had come in a on a career high weight.

Liston got paid substantially more in the first match against Ali. Looks like he didn't end up getting dropped in the biggest fight of his career. Certainly not by your standards.

Golota got paid more against Tyson than he did against Lewis.

I’ll move the borders according to my desires, and Liston’s future worth and legacy depended on the Ali rematch. Ditto Golota against Lewis.

He’d be the GOAT if he beat Marciano.
