No, Canelo will have to beat GG and then beat Mayweather in a rematch and he can be very close

Sanchez. What he accomplished by the time of his early demise is incredible.

No, he's not. He's not even the 3rd greatest Mexican featherweight of all time. And i happen to be a fan.

Sanchez is a level above JMM. I would pick him over MAB, EM, JMM and Manny at 126 and not even blink.

canelo is already high up on the list, yeah chavez SR was great but he fought 90% cans, salvador sanchez died too early to be great, marquez great fighter but many losses, morales great fighter but many losses. Finito lopez didn't fight anyone.

Canelo is 1 - 2 wins from being the GOAT mexican boxer

Sanchez would have outboxed Dinamita at 126. Had a very fluid style, better footwork, better speed, better defense, better jab, better chin, and much better stamina than Dinamita. He was naturally a brawler, but after a draw and only loss he made a vow never to lose again, so he evolved into a sharp boxer/puncher who was known to counterpunch beautifully. Basically, you had one of the most complete fighters of all time. Had the best of both worlds, a fluid American style with blazing combinations and great balance, but more than willing to go toe to toe ala Mexican banger if need be as legends like Gomez and Nelson found out this kid had highly deceptive power. This kid at 23 already had an atg career, he shared honors for 1982 Fighter of the Year with Sugar Ray Leonard for a reason!

Napoles of course was Cuban....but made his mark as an adopted Mexican.

I love JMM and his accomplishments and longevity may see him ranked higher - but Sanchez was incredible. They had some similarities in how they counter-punched but Sanchez also had ko power.

We were robbed of an incredible career. Him v Arguello would have been absurd.

one for the ages. sal was special. it used to amaze me how he could set a pace for 15 rds that would kill fighters today and not even be breathing hard in the 15th.

And be throwing hard shots throughout. Amazing. He must've been incredibly calm in the ring - most fighters use up a lot of nervous energy but to keep his pace up, he must've been in either a zen-like state or had unnatural stamina for whatever reason.

genetic freak probably, then round him off with a+ level skills, heart and toughness, and you got a guy quite a bit better than marquez.
heres a good highlight vid. when you consider he was just a kid who was still developing and gaining experience, yet was already fighting at this level, you get a sense of where he could have ended up. bounce in his step and mouth always closed even in the 15th rd. of grueling wars.

Salvador die too young (23) longevity is critical when evaluating a boxer career.
