Greb's win over Tunney IMO, I rate Tunney over Ross, not to mention it was the ONLY loss Tunney received in his career

A better comparison would be Greb's win over Gibbons vs Armstrong's win over Ross

Close but Greb over Tunney takes this one for me in the greater victory

Beating Tunney seems better to me. Especially as a naturally much smaller man.

I personally think Greb and Tunney both hold the two best wins ever over eachother, Ross was an excellent win but I prefer Greb over Tunney

Armstrong beating Ross is the better win for me.
I rate Ross higher than Tunney, and Tunney didn't have a great resume going into that fight with Greb.
Armstrong was a featherweight champion challenging the welterweight champion, and weighed clear inside the lightweight limit.
Ross was a solid favourite to win, I believe.

I'm very surprised to be in the minority so far with my pick.

    I pick the Tunney win.

In fact, I might dare say that the Walker win is also greater.

I would agree but that's also a great discussion

The Ross v Armstrong fight was Ross' last fight. Ross was 29 years old. Ross had 80 fights.
Armstrong at that point had 108 fights.....with about 75 more to go before retirement.

Tough pick. I have to edge it to Armstrong for the reasons Unforgiven cited.

The Walker win was a great win, but I find it hard to see on this level since Greb had the weight advantage, whereas Ross and Tunney had significant size advantages.

In hindsight its Greb-Tunney but at the time it was realistically Armstrong-Ross.

What's so great about Tunney compared to Ross?

What am I missing here ?

Tunney as a light-heavyweight is a little overrated. His legacy there rests largely on getting the better of a clearly declining Greb in subsequent fights. Prior to losing to Greb, what had he even done ?
The 189 pound Tunney that became heavyweight champion in 1926 was a long way off in 1922.

The Dempsey he beat wasn't close to a prime Dempsey either.
