Some names that have not cropped up so far:

Jeff Clark (basicaly the Harry Wills of the middleweight division).

A whole heap of guys who made a breakthrough at light heavyweight but were denied at midleweight e.g. Jack Dillon, Georges Carpintier, Billy Conn, Archie Moore etc.

The title claimants from 1910-1913 e.g. Hugo Kelly.

The title claimants from 1926-1931 e.g. Billy Sosse.

Carpentier!?! Please dont make me laugh.

    Mike Gibbons
    and Jeff Smith

Back to Carpentier... How was he denied a chance at the title? He laughably claimed the European version of the world title and when he had the chance to unify he couldnt get the job done being brutally beaten in two fights against championship calibre fighters at MW. I dont even think he got the job done legitimately at LHW but thats a different argument.

Time to fly the Aussie flag-Les Darcy (he had a claim but was never officially champion) and Dave Sands both of whom died before getting lineal title shots.

Why all the hatred for Carpentier? This is not the first time you are overly harsh on him.

Perhaps fortunate in that he was gifted two rounds by both Burley and Robinson for low-blows.
