I don't know man. There are other fighters better accomplished than Winky at 154. Hell, even Fernando Vargas has a better resume at 154.
Come on now, give me a little more credit then that. Yes, they both used the same nickname though. I would have loved to see a Jackson vs Wright fight. I believe Jackson would wear down Winky's defense by killing his arms.
Vargas would not get by Hearns, Jackson, McCallum, and maybe a Norris. Again, what are we all talking about resumes or who is greater than who?
Actually, I have to disagree with Tito. He fought a very green Reid and Vargas was also very young and not as experienced as Tito to take a fight of that magnitude at that time. Tito was best at 147.
Too many fighters jumping in and out of the weight to consider just accomplishments when ranking fighters in a division like this, which is why I choose to base it primarily on ability.
Vargas was the best he'd ever be at the time he faced Tito. I don't think an argument against him due to his age or lack of experience is really relevant.
my bad hermano!atsch if my memory proves me right, was he the one that ktfo terry norris? how i have it is 1. Hearns 2. Mccallum 3. Winky 4. Norris 5. Nino Benvenuti/Tito
As for accomplishments and H2H ranking, I think it's clearly McCallum. Hearns, Jackson, Norris, Wright, and Trinidad the next 5. Vasquez must also rate highly in the division's history as well, maybe Benvenuti who spent a short time there.
Tommy Hearns of 1982 thru 1986 was the best / greatest 154 pounder of all-time...... Mike McCallum and Winky Wright place 2nd & 3rd...:think MR.BILL
That was the one. Surprised he doesn't make your list. I'd have him clearly ahead of Tito and Norris, probably Winky as well.
