Nah, the 4th and 5th rounds of the Foreman-Lyle fight were much greater than those between two club fighters like Wilson and Hopoate. Dempsey -Firpo was a greater two round fight as well. Among meaningless club fights between third raters , maybe Wilson-Hopoate is the best.
Colin Wilson is ****ing hilarious, he looks like he has walked straight from a coal mine to the boxing ring and he generally fights like it. His fights are always fun to watch, gutsy as hell.
I remember that night, pub was like a tin of sardines for the Tua v Cameron beatdown. Hoppa is a disgrace, everyone was talking about him being something special, but the place was laughing by the time wilson got his second wind. Wilson didn't deserve the win, but hoppa sure deserved to lose, wasn't he a "champion"? Always feel sorry for that ref, he's always reffing these fights with two fatties plodding around with their hands at their waists, who then look dumbfounded when they get ktfo.
rubbish!! nobody was talking about him being something special. how is hoppa a disgrace? it doesn't say much about the guys that lost to him.
sorry, should have been clearer, he was the talk of the pub I was in, only a handful of people were watching till he came on, suddenly hundreds were crowding in front of the tv to watch him. All the hype people were hearing went out the window pretty quick though. I consider overweight poorly conditioned heavyweights who come in with their hands down and then look dumbfounded when hit to be a joke. But to each their own. When I go to club nights, those types of fights usually get the crown going, but not my thing. Rather watch someone who at least appears to have tried to learn something in the gym.
very few heavies r well conditioned, even high ranked ones. considering hoppa didn't take up boxing until he was 32 i think he has done a great job. i don't think anyone would have thought he'd be crowned aussie champ, regardless the limited opposition to beat to gain the title. his problem was that he was getting heavier and heavier for each fight and it was clear he was relying too much on the one-punch knockout. when he fought better opposition it showed that u had to be prepared to fight for more rounds. he didn't.
