Greatest 3 Lightweights outside the 'Big 3'

Who did Mosley beat at lightweight to rate him so high? Grigorian was never even ranked higher than 7 in the yearly Ring ratings ,the best fighter he faced Freitas beat him.To rank him higher than:
Oritz,Williams,Brown,Duran,is patently absurd!

 

I'd personally have Whitaker on the podium along with Duran and Leonard, rather than Gans. But as that puts me outside the consensus, I'll say: Whitaker, Williams, Canzoneri.

 

How do you account for Grigorian never being ranked above 7 in the RING? You are saying half of Grigorian's defences were against world class challengers, please name 6 of them?

 

Just looked at Grigorian's record in title defences,they are as follows.
2003 Zegan never ranked by the Ring in any year.
2002 Zoff Unranked was ranked no 10 in1999 .3 years earlier
2002 Martinez never ranked
2001 Rios never ranked
2001 Perez never ranked
2000 Unranked was no9 in 2008. 2 years earlier
2000 Kalocsai never ranked
2000 Casamonica never ranked
1999 Galli never ranked
1999 Clark never ranked
1999 Cano never ranked
1998 Campanella never ranked
1998 Rudolph never ranked
1997 Armstrong never ranked
1997 Balbi Unranked was no8 in 2002 5 years later. & no 4 in 2001. 4 years later
1996 Jakubowski never ranked

That's 16 successful title defences, 13 against challengers that were never ranked in the top 10 by the Ring the remaining 3 were not ranked within 2 years of their title challenges,none of the 4 were ever ranked in the top 3.

To my mind that is absolutely disgraceful!
How can you justify including Grigorian in the company of Whitaker,Brown,Ortiz,Aruguello,Ross,Canzoneri etc it's totally baffling and unjustified!

 

Not only were all of his defences against unranked opponents ,only 4 were ever ranked! And, not within 2 years of fighting him!

You are making excuses why he never fought a ranked fighter ,there is no excuse for that!

1999 when Spadafora was no3 and he was no8
2000 when Spadafora was no3 and he was no 7
2001 when Spadafora was 3 and he was 7
2002 the same 3 & 7.
4 years opportunity.
Johnston was ranked for 9 years!
