Grigorian became 1996 world champion and it not over 7 years, but just as long as Leonard (maybe 6 years and 1 - 9 months).
While Castillo lost in 2002 his version of world championship to Mayweather, so he was no title-holder from 2002 to 2004, as you alleged. With this lie you just proved how very uniformed you are (about the division). He even lost narrowly against Johnston (in the rematch) and his bout vs. Lazcano could be scored either way.

But if you mean Grigorian is rank 7 off all time, then I would agree (although I placed him at 6, ahead of Arguello, Duran and Whitaker). Clark was by the way by far (three times) better than Holbaek-Peterson, who was one of the three best wins of Spadafora (if not even the best). He was later possible number 1 challenger by the WBC.

You said Grigorian retired in 2003 he fought Freitas in2004!

Grigorian shouldn't be anywhere near a top 20 list of all time light weights, he never fought and beat a real contender!

You pretended Castillo was uninterrupted (continuous) WBC title-holder from 2000 to 2004, but he was defeated in 2002 (lost it when). I named you 6 - 7 contenders (including a former world champion and 3 of them undefeated at the least) which he fought.

To be serious, when you maintained Grigorian was ranked at the best at 7; who shall be around 1999/ 2000 ahead of him then, apart of Stevie Johnston (I don't know if anyone could/ doubt it)? Paul Spadafora, Leonard Doroftei or Julien Lorcy (maybe Cesar Bazan)?
Most experts of the former Soviet Union rated Grigorian as the best lightweight. You are just a hater!

I've named you two former WBA champions, one IBC champion & WBC top contender (who was undefeated in over twenty fights), a Olympic silver medalist, amateur world champion and long time WBC international champion (who was undefeated) and two or three others which were top 15, while 2 - 3 were even top 10. I think Artur Grigorian is even the greatest Usbekian boxer ever (ahead of Ruslan Tschagajew and Mahmmet Abdulajew), as best mix of amateur and professional. While Johnston lost even against gatekeeper Bazan. By the way I rank Gonzalez in the top 15 too (on the border to 10).

Grigorian was actual semi-retired before the Freitas fight in january 2003, after that he was full box pensioner and only did exhibition bouts, as he was trainer since when. These fights what he did were rather sparring sessions, comparable with Holyfield vs. Romney, Chavez or Durans last fights, they doesn't say anything about his achievements. One was for the 25 years aniversary of Universum Boxpromotion.

All his challengers were rated in the indepentend computer world rankings and most by Fightnews too. While Michael Clark was undefeated in about 22 or 25 professional fights, Matt Zegan the same, Marco Rudolph was just as undefeated, Olympic silver medalist & amateur world champion (won against Oscar de la Hoya); he was not only in the top 5 of the WBO but of the WBC was he it too. Aldo Rios was at that time top 15 in Lightweight, comparable with Yuri Romanov and Almazbek Raiymkulov. Stefano Zoff was at the very least top 15 too, while his victim Lorcy was clearly top 10. Janukowsky had not only over hundred wins, but was also former opponent of very famous boxers as Camacho, de la Hoya and Chavez among others.

Few of these experts were Cedric Kushner and Tobias Drews Teddy (maybe also Atlas and Bert Sugar). You no nothing about this division (let alson their history)! You not only know who was in the division around that time and who not (naming super-featherweight boxers, while Mayweather had only about 8 fights there). "König" (King) Artur Grigorian held the record of the most successful title-defenses in Lightweight (with 17) and only Leonard was as long champion as him. Though I would have liked if he fought Johnston or Holiday (where he would be my fabvourite), but Mosley was possible too strong.

While to rank guys as Canzoneri (who held the record for the shortest reign, with 30 days) or Mantel ahead of him is pretty ridiculous, but shows who underrated he is, besides your poor knowledge (estimations).

Which better opponents is Spadafora supposed to have defeated than Grigorian (he is rather on pari with Holiday and de la Hoya)? He was very protected himself and fought guys as Denis Holbaek-Peterson, as unification of IBF & IBC (while the Dane was far worse than Clark).

While Artur Grigorian has a superior achievement than Wladimir Klitschko at Heavyweight and Juan Carlos Gomez at Cruiserweight (arguable also than Joe Calzaghe at Super-Middleweight). He's the Pongsalklek of Lightweight.
I have him pound for pound among La Motta, Tszyu, Alvarez, Tyson, Loughran, Fitzsimmons, Walcott, Fenech and Dempsey in the top 70 (maybe around 60 - 65).
