****, as soon as I saw the title of the thread I was gonna come in and mention him, but obviously he is the subject of the thread. I was really impressed with him at the last olympics. I believe he is boxing at the Pan-Am games which start on Friday. He should add another gold medal to the collection. Hopefully some of the boxing is televised, but I wont get my hopes up.

Rigondeaux, probably. If Rau'shee Warren decides to be a career amateur he could become a great one as he hits his physical prime, he gave Guillerimo a fairly close fight at some tournament recently. They quoted Rigondeux as saying it was the hardest fight he'd had in years.

Rigondeaux would beat marquez after 10 pro fights at featherweight....

but the best amateur thata will never turn pro is Super Mario Kindelan

    Now he is a boxer...

Casamayor was never an ATG amateur, he was a good am, not in the class of Stevens, Savon, Kindelan, or even Rigondeaux, in any aspect.

kindelan used to outbox Casamayor all the time when they sparred.

Rigondeaux i think will be cubas best boxer, if he continues doing what he is doing... this guy is amazing, his skill levels are unbelievable, and his stamina is crazy... he is truly a natural and expert fighter, i dont see anybody in the amatures ever beating him, and he ever turns pro i would honestly think the same thing.

they do have the privilage but not alowed to return. and if they are in the team they are in no way alowed to leave a wieght division empty.

yeah but casamayor was a junior bantam:think

thats five divisons above him...do you expect a middlewieght fighting a heavy...and beaing able to beat him especcialy with the likes of the pound 4 pound am in the world.

casa was a great amateur he rarely lost never knokced out always came to fight and was damn fun to watch even if it was in the olympics. he left after he had just won a medal.it's unfair to say that a man who has only been in one olympic event (and came out on top) is equal to the likes of stevenson savon and kindelan...when they have gone to 3 events...have fought the best and won world amatuer titles in between.

Such a pity too, I remember watching Felix Savon in the summer olympics and he would destroy all his opponents.

there is a guy called jerome thomas of france maybe not the greatest but the guy has bags of talent and punching power and abilty to throw combo's of a high standard compared to most amatuers.

he has 2 silver medels and has now at 24 years of age at a turning poitn of either goign pro or staying am has decided that amatuers are the way for him...a real shame becuase i think in the grand scheme of things becuase he would of been a good french fighter and very possibly been a champion(well im certain he would of been a champion)
