Nations which comprise the Balkan countries in Europe are Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, and European Turkey. In terms of the Balkan Heavyweight scene...have there been many great fighters? The thing is I can't think of all too many that made the big time as heavyweights and thus am seeking your help in naming the single greatest heavyweight boxer to emerge from that part of the globe. 1. Kubrat Pulev: Bulgarian who challenged the younger Klitschko and is currently rated at #3 by THE RING 2. Luan Krasniqi: Albanian (who also shares German heritage) held the European heavyweight crown and once challenged for a version of the world championship 3. Zeljko Mavrovic: Croatian who is the most talented of this bunch but I ranked him at the very bottom of this trio because his pro career was just too short-lived (despite the very valiant effort against an all-time great in Lennox Lewis) as the man at #1 here (Pulev) will still have plenty of more opportunities to showcase his talents and possibly pick up a major heavyweight belt along the way But for some reason these are the only guys that I could think of; perhaps my brain is drawing a blank right now but to my knowledge, there hasn't been many great Balkan heavyweights. What say you – who is the single greatest HW to emerge from among the Balkan countries?
Ah yes...it took enough from me to think of a Balkan fighter...not enough brain cells left to consider the weight division.
