The British Boxing hall of fame have Joe Calzaghe as the greatest British Boxer ever. I'm sure a few will disagree will that
Hi Fergy. As good as he was, and he was, It's hard not to see Wilde as No 1, for sure Joe is always underrated ( very ambiguous ) and he should get more recognition, his " slapping " style did turn off many fight fans, but his overall body of work was pretty incredible if we are unbiased, he could be a sound argument for second, alongside Fitz, Welsh, and Lewis, but the Mighty Atom is, and will probably remain the top fighter, from these Isles, well at least in my eyes. Have met and spoke to him, and he really is a nice bloke, humble, polite, and very unassuming, in fact one of the nicest ex boxers I have spoke to, and I have spoke to hundreds. stay safe buddy, chat soon. Mike.
LEN HARVEY, H2H - mw, L-HW, hw... better than 'most' at 2 of those weights, best in one of them, an overall fight record few British Boxer's can match.
Good post Mike,as usual. That's the beauty of boxing, it's never really crystal clear in these polls who's the winner. There's always someone that's going to argue you down that your wrong. That's why I love it.
