I actually think that the 1990 s were a great launching pad for a lot of Brit Boxer s. Who were some of the best of the decade? Lennox Eubank Benn Naz Hamed Watson, linger in my mind.
You have my top 4 right there, specifically LL, Naz, Eubank, Benn in order. Calzaghe beat Eubank & Reid in the 90's, going 27-0 in that decade, including 5-0 in ABC title fights. However, based solely on body of work in the 90's alone, his record isn't as comprehensive as Eubank or Benn's, imo.
Yep I get what you're saying. Just shows how long Joe Calzaghe was active. Steve Collins as well is up there.
If it wasn't for the likelihood that Collins would be disgusted at being considered British, I'd agree he'd be in contention ;-) Even then, I consider - 1) A young, if a little green Benn, Watson x 2, Rocchigiani, Lindell Holmes and Wharton; and 2) McClellan, Barkley, DeWitt, Sims, Galvano x 2 and Wharton; as better wins than 2 over a faded Eubank and 2 over a shot Benn, plus Chris Pyatt. So, all in all, Eubank and Benn ahead of Collins for me.
Ahh remember Henry very well. Been a Yorkshire lad too I supported him against Eubank and Benn. Course he wasn't at that level but good power and chin. Ah ah your right about Collins, and then those that say Lewis is Canadian and Bob Fitz Australian. I've actually seen some right arguments on here about that. Lol
