Not that bold. I rank him 3 or 4 alltime in HW division, depending on where I place big George. And if you're willing to overlook his Jamacian-Canadian origins, he would be my choice for Greatest British fighter of all time.
maybe he could be the best canadian/jamacian fighter of all time if you over look his english heratige hehe. but yes, lennox by miles and because i am a ******, nigel benn #2 ROFL.
Wilde's at the top and I don't think it's that close really. Fitz is hard to rate. I generally don't attempt to rate the fighters of that era, fighters before 1900. If I did, he probably comes in 2nd, but again, I never really attempt to rate the fighters of that time with the "modern" boxers. Ted Lewis comes in next, with Jim Driscoll, Freddie Welsh, and Lennox Lewis following behind.
"Modern" is a subjective term. 1900 is my cut-off date for all-time rankings. Fitz had his first recorded pro debut in the 1880's, Wilde first recorded pro bout is around 1910. It's hard to really say what is "modern" in boxing, but when I first began rating fighters I decided not to include fighters before 1900. If there were a few years of fighting before the century then I still rate them, a guy like Walcott, but Fitz fought for nearly 20 years before that date.
Lennox Lewis in my book, top 5 greatest heavyweight of all time, In a weight class that has had many legends.
