I did. He's my favourite of the bunch. But of course in terms of record, it's Lewis. I actually clicked on Hamed thinking 'I bet someone pulls me up for this'. But I don't care. I am one of the few apparantly idiotic British fans who think that the Naz that fought Barrera was way past his prime and that the early Naz (i.e with Ingle) would have demolished Barrera/Morales/Marquez. I love ALL of those guys by the way. I just think he had sick skills. But I agree with the above list in terms of their standing, Lewis, Calzaghe, Benn, Hamed, Hatton. Although I think Hatton's done well, his win over Kosta Tzsyu ranks as high as any of the other guys best victories.
fair enough. I actually think the FW Manny would have been the easiest for prime Naz. Manny was wilder then and as we know, ALWAYS willing to trade. Naz had a very sturdy chin, and although he went down, he was always dangerous. And, as we know, JMM rocked Manny in their first fight, so I think Pac's eagerness to slug would've seen him on the receiving end of some Naz bombs. How we would've reacted, we don't know, but it's just my opinion. I hope you still don't think I'm an 'idiot'
haha, well, at least you can admit it. as all of us know, there are sme that can't. I mean, some people would've said 'Naz was DA BOMB!!!! he sparred with HW's, and he's put on a bit of weight, but I still reckon if he came back 2morow and **** he would spark both the Klitschko's, but da HAYEMAKER would beat him on pts'
There are a few British greats that should be on this poll if it is supposed to be complete and not just from the modern era. Either way Buchanan is a bad omission.
Stylistically, Hamed would have had a much better chance against Morales and Pac, i'd still favour those 2 to both beat him, however, given his awkward style and his freakish power you could never rule a prime Hamed out.
bbcsport.com asked thr question 'is Calzaghe the best British fighter ever'.That question is being answered on this forum with an overwhelming no.
No it's not. There isn't a huge amount between them resume wise. Hatton also has a win greater then anything on Calzaghes resume. I have trouble placing Benn because he has the second best resume out to that lot.
Yes it is. Match up the wins. I think its you I've asked to do this before. It starts off okay, with Tszyu and all matching up well, and then suddenly there is a sharp decline and nobody to compare to the any number of B+ fighters on Calzaghe's. Hatton fans even try to add in Mayweather in their desperation ignoring the fact he got comprehensively outclassed as if thats a great basis for comparison.
I can't believe there are people who actually pick Calzaghe (let alone the others!) over Lennox Lewis.... This is insane :-(
I'm afraid i'm the ***** that voted "other" Fitzsimmons, Wilde and Ted Kid Lewis should all be above Lennox. Although from that bunch, Lennox.
No man, you're not a ***** But I don't see how could anyone pick someone other than Lennox out of the bunch this poll has. :huh
