It might be a good time to revisit this, since it seems to be very fluid at the moment.

When I first posted on this forum my top four looked like this.

    1. Lewis
    2. Fitzsimmons
    3. Farr
    4. Bugner

Ten years later it was the same, and I didn't expect it to change much.

Since then we have had Fury, Joshua and Whyte, and it looks plausible that men like Joyce and Dubois might soon be in the argument.

So my questions are, what is your top five British heavyweights list, how has it changed over the past decade, and how do you expect it to change over the next?

    1 - Lewis
    2 - Fury
    3 - Fitz
    4 - Joshua
    5 - Farr

Insane the drop off after Fitz, insane.

Anyone who can harvest some contenders could get in at five. Joyce, Whyte still could do it, there's no reason why not.

Fury is #2 behind Lewis and might overtake him soon (if he beats an undefeated Usyk, maybe a couple of contenders on top).

Joshua is a way behind but it could be argued that he's made it to #3. He beat some ranked guys and was arguably #1 briefly. He might rise above Fury, if he can beat Usyk and then Fury.

Farr is still up in the top 5. Cooper might round out my list.

I actually think you are right. Joshua should be in the five. I'll edit my list.

I missed out Fitzsimmons because I don't regard him as a British fighter.

    .... also, he's skinny.

I think, maybe, there's not much argument to the contrary here.

That's my list as well, though I'd entertain Fitzsimmons case over Fury. He beat the Wilder of his era twice (Peter Maher), he also beat lineal HW champion (though I'd say that Corbett is worse than even 40 years old version of Wladimir). On top of that, he has some wins that are better than the rest of Fury wins (Sharkey, Ruhlin, Choynski, Hall, O'Brien at LHW).

    #05. Tommy Farr
    #04. Anthony Joshua
    #03. Tyson Fury
    #02. Bob Fitzsimmons
    #01. Lennox Lewis

My first thought is that despite AJ's shortcomings and known weaknesses, he's still an elite fighter with a good résumé. One which certainly has more meat to it than Fury's. The losses are a little problematic - Ruiz more than Usyk, but neither a good look - and what's more is you could argue the age of some of his best wins leaves a little to be desired. However, I do think holding wins over Whyte, Parker, Klitschko, Povetkin, and Ruiz is a good résumé, and Joshua is worthy of a higher ranking than Farr or Bruno.

As for Fury, I'm not so easily impressed by two wins over Wilder a good win over Wlad. He's definitely above Joshua, but I can't see him overtaking Lewis and there's absolutely nothing to place him above Lewis yet. I highly doubt there ever will be.

Not much has to happen for Whyte to be in the argument.

    I can't see it happening.
Whyte's win over Parker was good on paper, but I thought it was a dubious win myself, could well have been a draw, and Whyte floored that first KD with a headbutt actually.

Presumably if Whyte beat somebody in the top three you would take note?

Likewise for Joyce or Dubois further down the line.

His resume looks good on paper, but basically all his notable wins were close calls.
