again lists are impossible, always some overlooked & some forgotten.

I can't even remember some of the top fighters during the Golden Era of the 1930s & 40s when I was researching 10 years ago, but trust me there are a few missing!

what about Vic Folley for example, late 20s & 30s, a lot of draws on his record, many no doubt could have been wins, fought Canzoneri, Todd Morgan (Jr. Champion), and supposedly couldn't get near McClarnin - which I believe whole heartedly.

Montreal had many, many top lads then, many who were world's Top 10 fighters and there were a few more too, like Canada Lee, Brouilard, Al McCoy ( feared L-HW, fought Louis), Sonny Jones and just too, too many more I can't think of.

yep he should be up there, because he did take up boxing and in canada :deal

McLarnin was born in Hillsborough. County Down, Northern Ireland, UK.

 

Stating something does not make it so ,as this list proves.

Lou Eisen wrote an obituary for Bert Sugar in his forum , entitled
" Boxing's Greatest Writer Dies". Controversial to say the least. Eisen also states in that piece that Sugar told him that Marciano lost a fight to Ted Lowry , but owing to pressure from the mob the verdict was CHANGED to a unanimous decision for Marciano.
This must be news to Ted Lowry who in a Ring interview, a couple of years back,never mentioned it.
In short Mr Eisen. like that other self styled "boxing historian " also from Canada , Dan Mcafferty, is a wannabee who is FULL OF ****. Here is the link to Eisen's piece.
