Tyson Hearns Vandochezin Honorable mention: Ray Leonard. He obviously had blinding speed but his punches could be pretty damn hard, especially when he sit down on his shots.
:good Agreed, aside from Ali he is probably the most talked about fighter of all time, **** even my grandmas seen some of his fights.:good
H2H with other all-time great heavyweights. Ali, Holyfield and Holmes would all have beaten him. Those fighters were very well balanced when it comes to skill, stamina, and a durable chin. Ali and Holmes both have the style to outbox Tyson and take rounds off him. Tyson would have found it very difficult down the stretch with each of them. I include Holyfield as he fought and beat a good version of Tyson. Past his prime, but still effective and it gives us a guage to how they would have faired against each other in their primes. I'd pick Holyfield. Foreman, Liston, Lewis, and Louis. I don't fancy them as much as the others mentioned above. I'd probably give Liston and Foreman a better chance than Louis. I personally don't like Louis' upright and rigid measured style against Tyson's. Its a matter of styles gelling, and I see Tyson getting to Louis first. Foreman has the sheer brute strength to man-handle Tyson inside, walk him backwards, and punch it out with him while doing so. Liston and Tyson would have been a great slugfest inside. Thats a real 50/50 fight. Frazier, Marciano, Charles, Patterson. Tyson would have beaten them. Frazier's style would be tailor made for Tyson. It would need to be the late rounds for Frazier to have any chance. However, Frazier would need to constantly come forward to be effective, and he never quite had the same one punch power like Foreman and Liston to gain respect. Tyson would capitalize on Frazier's style with hard body punches from either side, and the uppercut up the middle would likely finish off the job inside 5 rounds. Patterson never had the chin. Charles was at his best as a light-heavyweight, and his skills were eroded considerably when he became heavyweight champion. He never had the same skill level to tame Tyson and take him into the later rounds.
Julian Jackson had good speed and power, not the greatest ever -- Tyson is definitley in the top 10 of the category for sure
I would say Tyson also. His punches were the scariest I've ever seen. Lightning fast, short, precise, and extremely powerful. Also, the way he put together those swift combinations was beautiful. RJJ has faster hands, but his power isn't close to Tyson's P4P.
