Moran was 61-5-4 at one point. Late career losses shouldn't be counted the same as inconsistency. I don't think just adding up the numbers like that means much, I don't think you can really count beating Digger Stanley the same as beating Battling Nelson, who you decide to include on these lists is always tricky too. Spike Robson hadn't won a fight in years either time Driscoll beat him, and Wolgast was basically an undersized prospect when he fought Moran. Frankie Conley deserves added to Moran's list. Maybe Al Delmont, Cockney Cohen and Phil Brock could be argued for too. If you made made those changed that'd put Moran 19 to 23, wins over 12 to 15 opponents, versus 13 wins over 7, which is a very different picture. To be clear I don't have a problem with people ranking Driscoll over Moran, I just think it can be argued either way.
Thanks, Clint. I just got so sick of seeing the umpteenth thread of 'Who would win between DeLaHoya and Che Guevara?' that I felt this would be a bit of a diversion and make us all do some thinking. And I hope it's having the desired effect.
