Which fighter had the best corner for a fight? I re-watched Holmes-Cooney the other day, and couldn't help but be impressed with Larry's corner. Eddie Futch and Ray Arcel were in his corner, and helped train him for the fight. That had to be a wonderful combo to work with.
I'm of the belief that the best corners are the ones that you don't notice during a fight. If you notice the cornerman and/or are thinking about what they're saying, chances are they're doing a shitty job. Buddy McGirt, Michael Katsidis' cornermen to name a few...
Dundee was more a short-term adviser and I think Moore helped train Foreman, but as far as I'm aware it was Shipes who was Foreman's chief second.
The greatest corner? I'll include the fighter's willingness to listen as well. Benton, Duva, and Whitaker. I guess my definition of the question awnsers it accurately as the fighter is in the corner between rounds.
Pretty easy, Tyson's corner in the Douglas fight, Aaron Snowell = one of the best of all time. Seriously though, its hard to beat Eddie Futch.
Charley Goldman and Freddy Brown in the second fight Marciano-Charles can be mentioned here. Furthermore there was a cooperation of Ray Arcel and Whitey Bimstein in the thirties.
