It might be obvious, but when you can't actually name ten and some of the ones you do name are decidedly dubious (and seem to mainly be with the justification that they won 'more title fights' so that must put them higher) it tends to make hit your credibility somewhat. So are you putting Nelson above Holyfield? He did 'have more successful CW title fights' afterall :rofl
No, no, no... I only want to point out Haye didn't do much at cruiserweight but win against the 2 champions, and the fact that you belittle Nelson against him, who's done a lot more is a little bit strange. Of course it's not the list of titlefights that's what makes you better, is against who and how... but be honest if you look at the champions of the start of the weight, you can't possibly put the man that won 2 titlefights on top of that list!
What the **** are you on about? Do you see me or any other objective Haye fan arguing that Haye is better or somehow more accomplished than Holyfield? Perhaps you should check my earlier post and vote before making a spectacle of yourself with your jisiesque ramblings. :good
So perhaps you, rather than just post a list, specify which one(s) of Nelsons you consider equivalent or better to beating the linear champion of the division in his home arena? Somewhat bizzare to count the loss to Thompson (in Haye's 11th pro fight) against Haye in any circumstances, but especially when comparing with Nelson who lost 5 times in his first 11 fights against much lesser competition.
If there was a cruiserweight division back then, he certainly would've been dominant. Jerry was a good fighter.
Don't get me wrong, I think Holyfield is the better fighter. I guess I just don't see too much of a difference between the two because Dwight, from what I saw of him, was a pressure fighter who, while known for his punch at lower weights, wasn't much of a banger at cruiser. At 5'5.5" he was short, despite having a 71" reach, he was smaller than Fragomeni, who is 5'9.5" and 200. Both men applied pressure, but neither really bombs guys out of there, so stylistically they look similar.
Johnny Nelson is one of the greatest CW of all time there is no doubt about that. This comes down to the fact it has historically been a weak division like SMW.
I think guys like Mormeck and Bell got lucky by exploding on the scene when Gomez and Jirov had left. I tend to think Gomez was better than Jirov, but both were very good cruisers, and both could probably have defeated Haye at that weight.
