We often list the best quotes of famous fighters, insightfull or funny. This thread is devoted to the best quotes of ESB members in debate. The insightfull, funny, misguided, memorable. Above all, the ones that a historian might want to quote if he wrote a book about a given fighter.
Lewis is not an ATG because Lewis was knocked out not once, BUT TWICE by mediocre fighters with one punch while in his prime :yep
Thanks for posting that, that was really something. Bernard Hopkins is a man dammit, and so is Hagler!!!!!
.............It's quotable, but in my defense, one needs to look back at how I phrased the question when I started that thread. I did not state that I agreed or disagreed with that statement, only that I wanted feedback on the statement. To be completely honest, I did that whole thread as a total lark. As anyone can tell you, I have nothing but disinterest in the heavyweights, and just wanted to see how many people I could get to respond to a completely inane subject. It was a lot, probably the most successful thread in terms of replies I've posted here.
Im not gunna mention names, i would also like to say now that im just posting this as a joke and if the person reads this who posted it takes it as a joke. The quote went something like this- 'Archie Moore was a greater LHW than Ezzard Charles because Charles never won the title, so that immediately excludes him from the running'
I think Duodenum articulately says what a lot of us think, and I agree 100% with what he wrote and what was posted in this thread from him. Hopkin's was actually yelling "Bring back 15 rounds!" after his thrashing of Glen Johnson.
"Sometimes the fighters Joe Louis fought weren't even fighters." I assume we aren't restricted to Classic?
''What do you mean Calzaghe was bigger than Leonard, see, look!'' *insert pic of Calzaghe and Leonard standing together*
