Frazier in the FOTC was better than great.

I'd say that boxing skills are anything that can be learned or taught in boxing.

It's hard to evaluate, especially since Ali and Frazier are both unorthodox, and contrastingly different in style and awkwardness. Bowe and Holyfield definitely seem to be more fundamentally skilled in a technical way, but I wouldn't say their fight was fought in a more textbook-conventional manner. Holyfield went brawl happy and Bowe obliged and strayed form his jab. It was a great inside to mid-range fest, but the abilities shown in the Ali-Frazier fight although not neccessarily by the book were much more varied. We saw a blend of out-fighting versus in-fighting, and we saw a good deal of slipping, countering, footwork(Not technically great, but surely skilled), and probably even more feinting than the Bowe-Holyfield I fight (This is debatable and the more I think about it the more I think that I'm wrong).

Bowe might've been the one to show the most complete skilled fighter out of the two fights. But Frazier is not far behind in what he proved he could do within his style. The trickiness of the question is that Ali & Frazier's style are much more direct and singular than Bowe and Holyfield. However, while Holyfield showed plenty of moxie and heart I don't come away overly impressed with the discipline or skills he shows. I'd say he did a better job in the second fight, regardless of how much worse Bowe might've been in that fight (Also debatable).

If this were ability I would be much more clear-cut in my answer.

I think it´s hard to compare. Frazier needed a complete different skillset than Bowe or Holyfield for his style. Ali adepted the skills he needed to his physical gifts. This is hard to compare to the more orthodox skills Bowe and Holyfield had. I think neither Bowe nor Holyfield had refined their skills so much towards their styles or physical assets as Frazier and Ali did. When you are simply going by orthodox skills Bowe and Holyfield have the edge. If you consider my points, Ali and Frazier have it.

I think i'd give it to Bowlyfield, if only because I don't think there are really any infighting contests in HW history on the same level.

Is this ****** you? Talking like some wannabe Harvard intellectual. I wonder who gets a sentence out quicker-you or Larry Merchant? Are you proud that you're practically blowing Larry Holmes?

What truly fascinates me about Holyfield-Bow 1 and 3 is that even though Holyfield clearly gets the better of Bowe when fighting at a distance, he just have to go in there and slug it out.

Yep, as if he needed to prove something to himself.

How fascinating it would be to swap Holyfield and Ali in these fights. Holyfield-Frazier would be an absolute war. 'Cause if Evander doesn't feel he have to run from Bowe, I have a hard time seeing him doing it against Frazier.

Reversly, Bowe would have to come looking for Ali. It wouldn't suffice just to stay in the middle of the ring as he does against Holyfield.

I see Ali-Bowe as being one sided,in favour of Ali. His style would be all wrong for Bowe. Holyfield-Frazier would be brilliant. Until Joe wears his man down.

I actually have FOTC Ali vs Bowe as the closer fight. I have a hard time seeing Holy get the better of Frazier over 15 rds.
