Mayweather vs. Ndou. Masterclass exhibition. Hopkins vs. Jouvin Mercado. It was Hopkins' fifth professional fight, he took it on I believe four hours' notice, and it's just an awesome example of how when Hopkins was younger (though he hadn't yet reached his prime here) he could do everything in the ring. Countering, slipping, parrying, everything you expect to see in a complete fighter. Even the commentator states that Hopkins looks something like Sugar Ray Robinson in the fight. Check it out, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga7C8p1FLGM Let this video just show people that Hopkins didn't always conserve his energy and hopefully it inspires some people to investigate his career further.
Mayweather vs Ndou was a blistering match. People talk about Ndou like he was some bum who wasn't ranked. He wasn't ranked at 135, but was ranked by both Ring and the WBC in the top 10 for 2 years at 130. He was a good fighter who ended up retiring due to injury and probably would have beaten many 135 fighters that night.
Exactly, it's just that Floyd was spot on that night and wanted to impress the crowd. From the opening bell he is countering with right hands over the jab and just doing everything he needs to do. Throwing great combinations and Ndou eventually just withers under the pressure. The final straight right hands that end it are just perfectly executed. You should check out the link to the Hopkins fight also if you haven't seen the fight before as well.
Joe Calzaghe vs. Byron Mitchell. Entertaining blowout with a little bit of drama, at least when it was live. Nearly takes the guy out in the first, granted you have a guy who's been competitive with the top of the division and defeat some and is just getting shredded to pieces. Round 2 starts and more of the same until Calzaghe walks into a perfect right hand and drops, up in 3 looks a bit shaken but then lets it all go throwing his hardest shots trading a little and Mitchell drops from a massive left. Mitchell gets up and Calzaghe finishes him for all intensive purposes. It was like an adrenaline rush and he was quicker there than against Lacy, which of course is the signature performance, but a lot wilder due to that thrashing first round where he landed 50+ hard blows in close proximity.
The way that Roy OWNED Toney was unbelievable. The best fight I have ever seen, considering the opponent. Current Fighter: Cotto v Pinto was pretty exciting to watch IMO. I could pick a heap of Cotto fights actually. Mayweather vs Corrales was good also.
Ok, the thread title: Greatest fight of your favorite boxer...well Cotto and beating Judah ...I was not comparing fights with PBF fight of Judah simply stated it that Cotto acerted himself.....atsch
Another one I like is Floyd vs Gatti And RJ vs Clinton Woods and Glen Kelly ah man, I actually just watch RJ vs Clinton Woods again, and it got me mad all over again b/c RJ shoulda fought tarver be4 he went up in weight. If he woulda did that Rj coulda probably retired as the G.O.A.T. possibly
Williams gets KOed via bodywork. Cintron loses focus under the constant heat and gets stopped mid rounds, however, Cintron had a significant punchers chance in my opinion, Williams does not. Williams doesn't seem to work with constant heat if it can catch up to him, Cotto is immensely more crafty and quicker than that overrated Margarito was.
From years back: Danny Lopez vs Mike Ayala; 14 and 1/2 rounds of blood, sweat and determination. Lopez reportedly threw over 1250 punches before he finally put the courageous Ayala down for good. From awhile back: Cotto vs Malinaggi; Watching Paulie try so freaking hard to win a fight he was losing was pretty inspiring. Boxing could use a few more Paulies and Miguels! From last week: Pavliks win over Taylor was a fantastic fight. Jermain fought his heart out, and Kelly still knocked him out. That was exactly what I was hoping for. Boo
