Fitz was born in the UK and became a US citizen ,and always referred to himself as such.

LOL looks like someone here has yet to read Fitz's book but it's OK McVey thanks to me there is a thread where I pasted Fitz's book... just go have a read and see that Fitz never objects to being called "The Australian".... LOL he never fought before he moved to LIVE in Australia. I am sorry but your hate for Australia is showing.... again. Look buddy don't worry, just because we beat you poms more than you beat us is no reason for jealousy.

Fact is many people who come to Australia have soon wanted to become called Australians, Peter Jackson is also an Australian although born elsewhere and it would be racist to argue he was not. Fitzsimmons left Australia for the most obvious reasons, for his career. Those days he could not just get back on a plane and come home so he set up home in the USA and like a good immigrant he was he settled and bought a home in the USA and took up citizenship but for a poster here to DENY that Australia has best claim to him and his prowess is simply BIAS and in some cases anti - Australian but we taught him how to fight, when he arrived in the USA he was already the real deal and had little more to learn except maybe to learn to say "diapers" instead of "nappies" and to realise that the yanks were not up to speed with the words "fair dinkum". McVey seems to think England taught the man how to fight yet he was a tiny little fella in nappies ...... So no more crying from grown men ok ?

Australia has its own heroes in Mundine, Green and Geale. Don't try and take other people's.

Sometimes a city belonged to one country when the fighter was born there, but then it was part of another country later. As was the case with Benny Bass and Kid Kaplan, both born in Kiyev, which was part of Russia back then, then it became Ukraine in 1991. Would they be considered Russian or Ukrainian?

No it isn't... in the biggest sport rivalry between England and Australia... cricket.... we are far ahead.... we won many more tests... in another sport that matters to us, Rugby League you have not won a test series since 1970..... we Aussies don't give a damn about soccer so you can have it.... in the last 10 Commonwealth games we have won far more gold than you lot.... tennis ??? well we have like 20 ATG's you have what ? two LOL but as I said to both nations cricket is the biggest rivalry and we are way way ahead....... your post was a fallacy

A lot of selective ****e there. What about the sport which is the reason we're on this board, boxing? You're not racing. Track & field athletics? We're way ahead of you, always have been. Rugby League? Three countries in the world play it.
The last Commonwealth Games England headed the medals table, the last Olympics GB was 3rd way ahead of you lot.
Like I say a fallacy, and what's soccer?

Britain also currently holds the Davis Cup, has the F1 world champion, holds the Ashes, has the Tour de France champion, and the world heavyweight boxing champion.

How many Australian born title holders have there been? Not more than 5 right?

I'll choose to go Spain this summer, doesn't make me Spanish.
