Lamotta was one of the toughest opponents anyone ever had!
There is no evidence that Cerdan would have ducked Robinson ,but since a mooted fight with Burley was vetoed by him, after watching Burley in a gym work out,it is my belief Marcel would have swerved Ray.
Cerdan was probably a little past his peak when he got his shot against Zale, who certainly was past prime
Cerdan would have been ,[and was champ,] before Robinson.Robinson wasn't even a ranked middleweight when Cerdan was killed.
Cerdan bypassed his 2 top challengers Lytell and Belloise and defended against the number 3 Lamotta because he got an under the counter cash payment via his manager ,Joe Longman to do so.
I think your suggestion that Robinson ducked Burley is rubbish and chronologically inaccurate.
What you think doesn't particularly concern me.

There's one anecdote about Cerdan watching Burley spar and then leaving the gym after, there is no evidence that he ducked Burley.

Cerdan fought Georgie Abrams and Holman Williams who were both top contenders. Abrams fought Burley to a draw and Williams beat Burley 3 TIMES. There is no logical reason for him to have been afraid of Burley. It's a complete myth.

Williams beat Lytell multiple times and Abrams beat Belloise right before he faced Cerdan. The idea that he avoided those guys is laughable.

Jake LaMotta (who had a SD win over Lytell) had been one of the top middleweight contenders for a while so the title shot was deserved. Most experts of the time believed that if Cerdan hadn't blown his shoulder in the 2nd he would have won the fight convincingly.

Cerdan wasn't washed up by any means.

Your belief that he would have 'swerved' Ray is not based on anything.

Henry Armstrong v Charley Burley, Holman Williams, Cocoa Kid and Jimmy Leto. All 4 were in Ring's top 10 during Armstrong's reign.
