Which are the greatest non title fights of all time? Competitive fights only

    My picks:

    1. Ibeaubuchi- Tua- unmatched work rate, two serious power punchers with iron jaws, what more could you want?

    2. Tyson-Ruddock 2- Tyson's wonderful handspeed and combinations vs Ruddocks toughness and his famous "smash"

    3. Foreman-Lyle- best slugfest ever

    4. Ali-Frazier 2- decent fight, a big underrated IMO, the resurgence of Ali

    5. Lewis-Mercer- I remember this being insanely competitive, need to re watch this

Joe Louis vs Max Schmeling I - it wasn't for the title and the fight was amazing.

    A few of these.

    The two Golota-Bowe battles.
    Maskaev-Rahman 1.
    Coetzee-Thomas ain't bad.
    Coetzee-Snipes.
    Quarry-Lyle.
    Morrison-Hipp.
Morrison-Ruddock was a good brawl for a minor title iirc.

I've got a real soft spot for Patterson-Machen. It's not a great fight - barely a good one, though it is a good one - but those two guys dragged themselves through tough times to get to that ring in Scandanavia. It's a special story that culminates in their meeting. They were special guys to me.

My favourite of these, absolutely brilliant fight.
Another classic, shame the best round is incomplete. Good shoot out involving one of the most entertaining fighters of that era.

Most of the outstanding ones have been mentioned, but as I did not long ago I'll have to throw Clifford Etienne versus Lawrence Clay Bey into the mix. Brilliant fight.
