Greatest Heavyweight of the 90's

I picked Tua because he had good wins and probably the most consistency of the guys mentioned. He got through Ruiz, Rahman, Makaev, Wilson and Izon in the 90s and deserves nothing but respect for the Ibeabuchi fight (I thought he won).

 

i totally agree with this post but in the end, winning HAS to count for something. All I can say about Golota is that for 15 rounds, over 2 fights, he mastered bowe. however, in neither of those fights could he produce a knockout or maintain that dominance for a decision.

still, he was the most talented of the bunch and he had a MUCH easier time with bowe than holyfield ever did and that is saying something indeed. i might have to reconsider my harshness with golota in the future...though i don't think i'll ever like him!

 

If they all fought each other H2H, my money's on Razor to have the best record. But it's a tossup, really.

 

Why is Bert Cooper even on this list?

Not sure if I'd call any of them "great" per say but I'd say Moorer.

 

Yes, Moorer is the only one on the list you can call great. Although with Morrison's ability to teleport, there's an argument there, I suppose. Ali couldn't even teleport.

 

I voted for Moorer based on accomplishments because h2h I think he would be in trouble against many on the list..

Tua has quite a few impressive notches on his belt as well, but he never won the title..

Douglas had the best win...

Golota of the Bowe fights was a beast, I actually thought he was going to wreak Lewis as well and be a Champion....... opps atsch

Ruddock was my boy, but he lost most of his big fights...

Mercer another one of my favs had the chin and power to beat or give anyone on the list hell..

the rest also had their moments in the 90's as well.... But I will stay with Moorer.. H2H though I think it would be Mercer if he was on his game...

Moorer's the best out of a fairly average lot. Tucker was n't really a force in the 90's.

 

Tucker was hardly a force in the 1980s, more of a light breeze.

 

True. Still the best opponent out of a mediocre bunch for a prime Tyson though.

 

Thomas was better for me. Tucker's size and safety-first approach would always see him last longer than someone who really had a go (he did have a solid chin though, to be fair to the big Bugner-alike lummox).

 

How about a hypothetical fight between Bugner and Tucker ? Valium could sponsor it.
