I was seriously worried for AJ when Vlad knocked him down. Heavy knock down and it took a couple of rounds for Joshua to recover.

Edwin Rosario vs Jose Luis Ramirez II

A forgotten classic from the 80’s and an incredible turnaround comeback from Ramirez against the then unbeaten and much heralded Rosario.

What an incredible display of guts, heart, and conditiining by Ramirez. Rosario was really nailing Ranirez with hard, fast shots those first few rounds. Those are the kind of fights that made me love boxing. Not the garbage that passes for title fights today.

Only Ali had recuperative powers that matched Holmes at Heavyweight.

Marquez had a remarkable ability to shake off hard knockdowns.

Eubank got knocked down against Watson and virtually won the fight with his very next punch thrown. I actually went through every post in the thread to make sure I hadn't missed it.

In his first fight with Czyz, Charles Williams was dropped at the end of the second and took a count at the start of the third, but by the end of the round he was in control of the fight (and never relinquished it).

Joe Louis was down a few times as well and excepting Schmeling invariably came back hard and fast.

As far as straight up courage n guts I would rate Marciano, Ali, Frazier, Holmes and Holyfield as the toughest and bravest of all the elite heavyweight champions in history. Joe Louis was also very brave and tough but I don't feel he had the chin of fighters I mentioned previously. Dempsey showed a lot of guts in the Firpo, Tunney and Sharkey fights and Jeffries was pretty famous for his ability to absorb a good beating. Tunney also showed a lot of guts in the Greb fights and when he got up from the " long count " and kept boxing Dempsey silly.

The old man version of Foreman also had incredible heart as did Floyd Patterson who unfortunately for him had a pretty crystalline chin.

    Cheers All.
