What Lard said is right. Im not the biggest fan of Calzaghe and agree he wasted alot of his career, but he did beat some good fighters. When it comes to his bout with Hopkins there seems to be alot of critics who say Hopkins was past his best etc, yet no one seems to give Wright, Tarver or Pavlik the same critism, and they did lose to Hopkins.
I know how old Hopkins is but dont think his age, with the way he looks after himself is as a big a deal, I think Hopkins is a better more complete fighter now ie would the Hopkins of now have lost to the guy who beat him on his debut? Or lose so blandly to Jones Jnr in a 1st world title fight? Or get knocked down twice and only draw with Mercado? Or struggle as badly with Allen & Echoles 1st time round? I personally dont think so, just look how well he performed against Pavlik, yet Calzaghe outworked him, and who was Calzaghe meant to fight at that time? Hopkins was ring mag champ.

Of coarse Wright,Tarver and Pavlik don`t get that type of critisicm they`re American Joe Calzaghe isn`t. Stevie Wonder can see what the US posters agenda is.

All in all, i am beginning to agree that his legacy is getting tarnished. I mean Kessler was a good win, Hopkins was a controversial, but good win. Eubank was a good win. And that's about it.

i keep hearing about him not having the "balls" to rematch hopkins, do you remember how hopkins had to fake low blows and foul his way to see the final bell. hopkins made it a terrible fight which wasn't worthy of a rematch.

There is no doubt there. The refs always seem to be in the tank for Calzaghe and just itching to stop the fight.

you just said: Of coarse Wright,Tarver and Pavlik don`t get that type of critisicm they`re American Joe Calzaghe isn`t. Stevie Wonder can see what the US posters agenda is.

so what i was saying is, they don't get the kind of criticism Joe gets because they don't get the kind of praise Joe gets.. so what you said above about it being just because they are american is just wrong.

JC gets trashed on here by a very large number of bitter Yanks that don`t like the fact that an ATG happens to come from Europe. They get very insecure for some reason so rather that rational debate they post stupid infantile threads.
