    Jack Dempsey vs Jack Johnson

If Dempsey had beaten even a faded Johnson, it would solidify his legacy as beating another ATG...
It could have been like Johnson's defense against Jim Jeffries. And from Johnson's standpoint if he had comeback from his loss Wilard to become a 2 time champion by beating Willard's conquerer...that would have just skyrocketed his legacy and popularity as an ATG

Bruno v birbeck for a world title or failing that the Commonwealth belt would have been a great fight.

I much prefer these 'coulda happened' matches over time-machine Louis vs. Lewis type fights. I even get more intrigued by fights that were scheduled and then cancelled.

The greatest of these might be Tyson-Holyfield 1991.

Other scheduled or proposed fights that didn't come off that I would've liked to have seen are -

    Foreman-Bonavena 1975
    Liston-Quarry late 60s
    Ali-Patterson II 1967
    Ali-Quarry III spring 1974
    Saad-Mustapha early 1981
    Foreman-Moorer II 1995
    ****ey-Bugner 1981
    ****ey-Shavers 1980
    ****ey-Weaver 1981
    Holmes-Young 1979
    Holmes-Norton 1979

Perhaps not the greatest, but, given my age, we spent the better part of 18 months (my late bud and I) arguing about the outcome of Galindez-Conte. Sidebar: Don't look at the battle torn Victor getting his ass handed to him by Marvin Johnson or Mike Rossman (who he handled in the rematch) or the broken hand Conte of the late 70's who had had it. They won their respective titles in latter 74. THE bout should have been a beautiful unification in the summer of 75.
So many possibilities! Conte stops him on cuts, Conte controls the ring and cops a UD, Victor lays counterpunching traps for John and suddenly has him hurt and ready to go! Victor avoids the cuts and outworks John in route to a UD. My goodness, we were ready to shell out $100 to see the closed circuit in 75!
Actually, my late friend and I wasted many months of nights talking about this one, a fight that in the back of our minds knew was not going to take place. :?

Duran v Arguello will always be my no. 1 - would have been such an exciting fight.

Robinson v Burley is intriguing but not sure how it would have been as a spectacle.
