James Cook and Ray Close were better than Neville Brown and Brian Magee. Henry Wharton and Richie Woodhall were excellent, better than most listed. Anyway... The best was Watson.
surprised watson's so far down on people's lists Calzaghe Watson (close) Collins Eubank Benn the last three are subject to being swapped around i any order tbf
Roys the best that ever did it. But I think prime Eubank takes Calzaghe - just think he would. Of course you could debate mythical match ups until the cows come home - we will never know for real.
Watson was not on the level of what Benn and Eubank done in their career. He did well against Benn and Eubanks - but - overall his career does not match up to theirs. Its like Robin Reid - could tell his Grandkids - he nearly beat Joe Calzaghe on the night - but overall Joes Career trounces Robin Reids.
Allegedly - floored / knocked out - Steve Collins in sparring. Clowned William Joppy - but let the decsion slip by him. And made Bernard Hopkins run all night scared.
'Best' as in best ability? Or 'Greatest'? If on greatness, then it's Eubank all the way. But Watson at his best was the best (all of Lee, Benn, Christie and Eubank II fights he was out of this world - maybe he was just too tight -in both weight and tension- in his couple of middleweight world title fights).
Calzaghe - Too good at adapting to an opponents style Watson - Holds legit wins over Benn and Eubank ( the first was a robbery ) Eubank - Holds the win and draw over benn Benn - Murderous puncher, his power was scary Jones - Only fought Toney at SMW but can still be rated Toney - Bottom of the barrell. didnt fight anyone of SMW except Jones and lost This is the brits division and will stay that way by the looks of things Froch Degale Groves Eubank Jr - if he lives up to the hype Vs Ward The Dirrell Brothers Rodriguez .............Crickets ............
^ I agree, mate. I think Eubank with his temperament and movement would've given Toney a lot of problems.
So he's saying it's a close one. I agree, and would be a wonderous technical matchup. Thanks for digging that up Slip :good Recently Atberry told me Kalambay was the most skilled middleweight of all time. And that he'd have beaten Hagler.
