Which boxer, despite advancing age, kept pushing themselves in the ring toward great victories?

I think we have two or three standouts:

Ali, Louis & Robinson kept thier winning ways well into the twillight of thier prospective careers. & Roberto Duran.

  6. ALI NEVER FOUGHT IN HIS 40s, even in his late 30s he was a joke, old robinson and duran were decent.
foreman and archie moore were much better

Moore, then Fitz, forever and always. They did it in an era before steroids and other technologically advanced PEDs were available. From the late 1960s on (some might say even earlier), we cannot be absolutely certain all top competitors of an advanced age were not tainted in this respect. (Yes, that includes Foreman, Holmes and Duran, much as I hate to admit it. Maybe they were all totally clean, but it is a fact that **** was out there, and will be from now on.)

Fitz was 40 when he lifted the LHW Title from 26 year old George Gardner, decking Gardner twice in taking a 20 round decision. As credentialed as Hopkins and other older competitors of the post championship distance era are, we never saw them attempt limits longer than 12 rounds.

  8. george foreman is the best old boxer in the history, he was competent against a prime holyfield, he knocked moorer out in his 40s. no contest

He did gain a tremendous amount of muscle mass when he made his comeback. Granted, George was a freak of nature, but the fact remains that he returned long after PEDs completely permeated the world of sport. No, it's certainly not fair if he was entirely clean in actuality. However, it must be acknowledged that we can never know for certain that he did not cheat. Even Ali deliberately attempted to use Thyrolar at double the prescribed dose as a PED in challenging Holmes, nearly a decade and a half prior to Foreman-Moorer. Those substances existed for decades before George regained the title. Did he follow the lead of former early victim Bob Hazleton in dabbling with steroids? Was he using something undetectable he might have picked up from his late Parade Magazine co-fitness advice columnist Florence Griffith-Joyner?

We can't know for certain that Foreman and contemporaries were not cheating. We do know that Moore and Fitz were not using such PEDs, because they were not available yet. Can you prove George was not using PEDs?

And I conceded that it is terribly unfair to all competitors of the modern era in all athletics that a dirty few can call into question the achievements of everybody, but Pandora's Box has long since been opened, and can never be closed. We can't know for certain that a particular competitor is, and always has been, clean in this day and age, and we will never be able to know again with any assurance.
