:dealTHIS No other 45 year old in history fought anywhere near like Archie Moore did when he fought Yvon Durelle - nowhere near. :good
For the record, my favorite is Moore. Considering what the guy did past age 30, i think he's almost a shoe in.
michael moorer was champ in 2 divisions and he did beat holyfield. in his era he was elite for sure. foreman was competent against a prime holyfield.and he was stolen in his late 40s against shannon briggs, archie moore was destroyed by marciano, patterson or young ali..
Elite for his era, ofcourse! He was champ, so he was elite for that time. But was not an eilite boxer in general terms. Hopkins had a lot more meaningful wins in his old man years. That's undeniable. And you saying that Moore was beaten by greats like Marciano, PAtterson and Ali doesnt mean that much. He was way way past prime and you just named 3 of the greatest heavies ever.
Aye. I must say, though, that if Hopkins pulls a Pavlik against Pascal, this argument becomes damn close. Foreman and Ali, I'd rank behind those too. Never seen a fighter win fights as shot as Ali was winning them. He was beating ranked contenders when he literally had nothing left. Roy Jones has more left now than Ali did when he regained his title from Spinks. I truly believe that.
michael moorer is one of the best lhw ever. and one of the hardest lhw punchers ever. prime holyfield would beat marciano and patterson any day of the week, old foreman fought 12 rounds against him,(even tyson could not finish the fight against a past prime evander). and holyfield is the only 4 times hw champion of the world, and former cruiser champ. moorer did beat evander once.
we are talking on old champs, old is in his 40s, who (all time great) did beat hopkins in his 40s? moorer is better than tarver, wright or pavlik hands down, roy jones was a shot and jones did beat hopkins in his prime .
top 5 wins At 40+ Archie Moore: Guilio Rinaldi Yvon Durellex2 Tony Anthony Hans Stretz Yolande Pompey Alejandro Lavorante Bernard Hopkins: Antonio Tarver Winky Wright Kelly Pavlik George Foreman: Michael Moorer ......
foreman wins +40 tommy morrison ran during all the fight, and foreman was competent against prime holyfield. (all them young guys) michael moorer smokin bert cooper gerry cooney lou savaresse alex stewart coetzer maguila rodriguez shanon briggs (foreman was very old and still he was stolen) he did beat qawi when he was 39
im assuming you meant who did Hopkins beat in his 40's. Howard Eastman. nah, jk. there are non really. But he beat a good amount of very solid champions. Foreman didn't beat Holyfield so i don't know why keep bringing that up. It wasn't even a close decision i don't think. Moorer beat Holyfield yes, but that was only because Teddy Atlas begged, pleaded, explained to Moorer what that moment truly meant to him. If it weren't for Teddy's amazing cornerman performance it would have been a totally different story. Teddy Atlas didn't allow the quitter in Moorer to take over that fight. Teddy brought the fighter out of him. Moorer was good, but lets not kid ourselves on that win. Holyfield always struggled with semi slick southpaws. Holyfield was also schooled by Chris Byrd who is not an elite heavyweight in general terms.
you can beat norton, shavers and patterson. but if i beat just to ali . my legacy is better:deal moorer was better than all them, and foreman was competent against great prime boxers. moore was destroyed by the legends that he faced. and hopkins just did beat a shot jones. prime jones did beat him.
lou savaresse? cmon now, be serious. and alex stewart coetzer maguila rodriguez why would you mention these fighters?
the most boring history..... moorer did beat holyfield, foreman knocked moorer out and old foreman fought 12 rounds against prime evander end of the history. michael moorer is better than any boxer that did beat old archie or old hopkins. and it is not just on victories or defeats, foreman was clearly competent in his early 40s
