    Hatton ain't an overachiever.

Great amateur career, rarely been troubled by anybody along the way and he has much underrated boxing skills.

Bowe did have talent. Taylor did not. He is very average.

Taylor has great athleticism and a good jab...so you would agree that he is no real over achiever or even the greatest.

A guy like Firat Arslan is what I would call a great over achiever...

Bowe ate himself out of much more success. With Hopkins - like discipline, he could have been special, so he does not fall into the category of overachievers.

Neither does Taylor. Mentally weak fighter, too many sub - par performances.

This thread is about over achivers man. Taylor is athletically good for 7 rounds and then everything goes.

His stamina sucks naturally and he has an average jab. Therefore he is an over achiver because he was undisputed middleweight champ.

    I correct that...

This thread is also about the greatest over achievers and Taylor don't fall into this category...

I think being so limited in terms of boxing ability and being so mentally weak makes him a great over acheiver.

He was not an alphabet belt holder he was the man. In my opinion one of the most limited undisputed champs that the sport has seen in a long time.

John Ruiz for sure, no matter what people say. Coming back from a first round KO to win the title twice is amazing in my book.

Alexis Arguello went one better, he was stopped in his first pro fight.

My candidate for this thread: Vito Antuofermo. Undisputed middleweight champ with virtually no skill whatsoever.*

    * And please, don't go down the 'subtle skills' road. Been there before, it's a cul-de-sac. :good

Ruiz didn't "win" "the" title twice - he "won" a fractional belt. And cheated to do it.:yep

That's hardly "amazing" - rather, it's disgraceful, an affront to decent fighters who fight within the rules everywhere.:yep

    You underrate Taylor:deal

As far as natural talent Taylor is no Sugar Ray but he's more than just a great athlete...he is a talented fighter there's no doubt about that. I don't get it why some fans think he is soooo limited when it comes to boxing skills and what makes you think he's "so mentally weak"? :huh

I mean, I remember when Taylor was still an amateur. He was very good people talked about him, and after watching several of his amateur fights....and then Taylor ended up winning the bronze medal in the Olympics I had a feeling he'd have a successful pro career so I'm definitely not surprised that he was able to reach to the top.

John Ruiz is the biggest over achiever, skill wise he gets it everytime.
