Not saying it was the greatest ever but Carl Thompson stopping David Haye in the 5th was a great performance by an older fighter.
I loved Demarcus Corley's (37) beating Paul McCloskey. It was cool to see a gamer like Corley expose a protected regional hype guy. Even though Khan had pretty much ended the hype, I feel it was just nice to see a guy lose a tuneup vs. a motivated veteran who never got his just due. Just rewatched this and the commentary team was setting up a robbery so ridiculously. McCloskey would get pelted by right hooks, then land a jab once in awhile and the commentators would give him the round. Guillermo Jones (40) vs. Lebedev: This is the fight where the infamous Hanging Face Lebedev meme was formed. God did Jones beat his ass. Whew. Hopkins (46) vs. Pascal 2: Just Hopkins things. The push ups between rounds, get real, that was masterful. Hopkins (43) vs. Pavlik: Basically ended a promising MW prospect. Bolo punches, showboating, not getting hit, just pure dominance from Hopkins. Ken Norton's (35) last stand vs. Larry Holmes. Probably the best HW fight ever. Just dynamic stuff from Norton. Shame he didn't win, but he really put forth one of the best performances ever. I also feel Kenny had a lot more miles on him than his 35 years would indicate from some of the observable boxing-related damage, and still he put forward this classic.
