Continuing the 80s theme, if you had to pick a single wnning performance by one fighter that decade, which would it be?

Evander Holyfield beating Dwight Muhammad Qawi for the Cruiserweight Crown in his 10th pro fight. That was mind boggling to watch.

I loved Mike McCallum over Donald Curry. I can watch that fight over and over again. I remember before the fight Donald was hesitating to fight Mike, prior to Honeyghan even. And Mike called him Curry chicken. It was a legit fight and a little personal.. And when they fought on July of 1987 they were tuned in, but Mike was a little bigger and that made the difference I think.

So many to think of to be honest .It was one of the greatest decades for boxing in some way's. The one negative thing I'd say is the explosion of world title belts but you can't have everything.
But anyway ,greatest performance s in my opinion
    Duran beating Leonard.
    Hagler beating Hearns
    Hearns beating Duran.
    Hearns drawing with Leonard.
    Honeyghan beating Curry.
    Holmes beating Cooney.
    Tyson beating spinks
But for the biggest single I'd have to put Honeyghans performance. For him to go to America and beat the p4p guy like that ,can't really top it .

I'm going to get a migraine trying to work this one out. Tyson - Spinks, Spinks - Holmes, Hagler - Hearns, Leonard - Hearns/Hagler, Hearns - Duran, Duran - Barkley, Benitez - Duran, Chavez - Rosario and i haven't even scratched the surface. The mind boggles.

I would say first would be Leonard-Hearns followed by Pryor-Arguello

It was the birthplace and breeding ground for superfights outside the heavyweight division, which is nice.

    Leonard-Duran
    Leonard-Hearns
    Sanchez-Gomez
    Hagler-Hearns
    Hearns-Duran
    Spinks-Qawi
    Spinks-Holmes
    Hagler-Leonard
    Pryor-Arguello

    Etc, etc.

I loved that fight. Another one I can watch over and over. Bramble was 4-1 favorite that morning I remember reading, but I thought if Bramble cannot take that left hook he has no where to go and he didn't. In the first I remember Bramble being aggressive and Rosario countering light enough left hooks, but they rocked Bramble easily and soon Bramble was not moving forward. At the end of round one a right hand by Rosario rocked Bramble and he walked back to his corner I thought with shaky legs.. A little. The fight goes from Bramble going forward in round one to slowly being backed up in round 2.. It is interesting to watch. It was so complete that Bramble went from a top 10 fighter that year to a contender and he never was champ again as far as I remember.

    This one. Plus:

    Duran vs Leonard 1

Tyson vs. Berbick for the record
    Tyson vs. Spinks

Interestingly no fight Holmes was involved in.

Holyfield vs. Qawi was a hell of a fight. I am not sure how Holyfield went 15 at that point in his career with a tough veteran.

If it wasn't for his jab, Bramble might have been a nobody … but the Bramble Mancini wars were awesome
