Greatest Puerto Rican fighter

Cotto wouldn't last 5 rounds with Tito at welterweight. Tito at welter is fast, stronger, and the better boxer than Cotto.
Tito is more accomplished than Cotto will ever be. Cotto's asking for a fight with Mayweather and I'm sure that Cotto even though well deserving is not on the same level as Mayweather. Cotto doesn't have the speed or the resume that PBF has. If they ever fought i'm sure that Cotto will get knocked out like Ricky Hatton did. If Shane Mosley can hurt him i'm sure that Mayweather would take advantage and knock him out.

There's no comparisson with Tito and Cotto. Once Cotto gets to 17 straight title defenses at welterweight then unify the titles come talk to me about him being an all-time Puerto Rican fighter.

 

It took a year and a 1/2 for PBF to get a world title - he's been groomed to be a champion. He's seen Cotto's style before and would make adjustments during the fight. I think that Cotto is just looking to get paid...

 

I don't think Mayweather KO's Cotto, Hatton got KO cause he was smaller, even Collazo hurt him on the 12th round. If Floyd fights Cotto, IF he wins will be by UD, Cotto can take a punch and Mayweather isn't a power puncher at 147 but yeah! he is fast.

 

Tito didn't lose his first fight until 2001 and he'd been a champion since 93' come on now.

Cotto is just starting to hit his stride ... people cried outside of MSG when Tito lost to Hopkins.

an already battered Zab Judah
a faded yet live Shane Mosley
those are the two biggest names on his resume, the rest of the guys are nobodies

 

Look I'm going to break it down to you ... PBF has a weapon that no one has an answer for, and if Cotto thinks that pressure will be the key to beat Mayweather then he's going to walk into alot of punches. There's no defense for the straight jab or the straight right to the pit of the stomach. Cotto has shown that he has no defense for the straight right and thats Mayweather's money punch. He brings it from different angles. I see Cotto getting knocked out - earlier than Hatton.

Cotto better not show any of that bull that he showed against Mosley because if you let Mayweather be the agressor then you're in for trouble.

Cotto is extremely flawed and wouldn't last long --

Can you say that Cotto is in better shape than Mayweather?
His sparring Partners are better than Mayweather's?
His resume is better than Mayweather's?
Him amateur background is better than Mayweather's?

Don't count out Ricky Hatton either - he was the universally recognized undisputed champ at 140. A title that Cotto doesn't hold.
Cotto also is fighting a guy who's in his first title fight and has only Arturo Gatti as his claim to fame.

I'd like to see if Cotto can beat Margarito at this time of his career.

 

gomez,rosario,camacho,trinidad are all great fighters. if cotto keeps it up he too can be added to this list

i always find it pretty incredible that Ortiz NEVER gets any votes. Ive found that Ortiz is ALWAYS underrated and Gomez is ALWAYS overrated on these lists.

1. Ortiz- dominated 2 divisions for a long period of time, avenged 5/7 losses, and the list of fighters he defeated at lightweight was incredible (elorde, ramos, lane, laguna, draw with locche) and NEVER outclasseduntil his last bout...6 of his losses by close decision to ATGs
2. Trinidad- dominated 2 divisions, title in another. Gets the nod over Benitez bc of his dominance at 154.
3. Benitez- champ in 2 divisions, title in another, wins over 2 atgs.
4. Gomez- dominant at 122, won titles at 126, 130, but never was dominant over 122. wins over laporte, zarate, lockridge.

but ill say this guys, the most underrated pr fighter EVER is Camacho...look at this resume of wins:
Limon, Ramirez, Rosario, Boza-Edwards, Howard Davis Jr., Mancini, Pazienza, Haugen.

and yet he's never discussed b/c a lot of people consider him a waste of talent, which I find to be pretty ridiculous.

Good list, although I would switch Gomez and Benitez and put Torres in the top 10. Actually, i would put him at #6.

Wow, the poll is jacked. Ortiz is CLEARLY the best, there should be no doubts about that. After that, I can see Tito due to depth of resume, followed by Gomez and Benitez. Based on skill, Gomez at 122 was arguably the best though. I'll go with:

1. Ortiz
2. Gomez
3. Trinidad
4. Benitez

Gomez getting the edge due to overall skill. I have no problem with some rating Tito higher, but Ortiz is the clear cut #1.

 

Ortiz is clearly greater than any of them, why did you immediately throw him out?

 

the greatest PR fighter at this point is Trinidad...is the best PR ever? no, i believe benitez, gomez, and dejesus were better fighters, but they arent as great as Tito...
